August price for 08 LTZ
by toddandreg on Sat Aug 23 21:42:36 PDT 2008
Im in Dallas and just got a quote for $38,786 on a black 2008 LTZ with sun/entertainment/DVD package. This price takes into account the recently announced GM employee pricing and the $5k rebate. Seems like a good price given that Edmunds lists this car/package at MSRP of $51,625 and invoice of $46,123. What are others paying these days for LTZ with these options? Wondering how low dealers are willing to go given low sales/high inventories...particularly in TX. Thanks for your help.
2008 LS sedan, 5-speed, no options
by occupant1 on Wed Feb 20 16:10:36 PST 2008
MSRP $14510 rebate $2000 discount $1210 selling price $11300 trade-in value $500 AirCheck voucher $3000 amount to finance $7800 + TT&L I'm waiting on the title to this junker car to arrive so I can get this Cobalt. It qualifies for this AirCheck voucher here in Dallas/Fort Worth because it is more than 10 years old and has been continuously registered for the last 12 months. It also failed an emissions test which is why I'm looking to replace it. Of course I bought it specifically so it would fail so I could trade it in on a new or newer car and get this $3000 voucher. If I had GM card rebates it'd be even cheaper. Edmunds TMV on the car is right around $12,100 so it's not a bad deal at all at $11,300. I also intend to have the dealer tint the windows nice and dark ($295) and I'm considering adding a center console armrest but haven't got a quote and was thinking of getting that from a junkyard anyway. Compared to my best deal on a 2009 Corolla base 5-speed with the same equipment plus its standard ABS (AC, CD/MP3, 5-speed, no other options, which didn't impress me much more than this Cobalt at all) at $15,785, it's a real steal of a deal. I thought about a Yaris but I wouldn't be able to live with the gauge cluster in the center of the dash. I still intend to shop the Nissan Versa and the Honda Fit before I commit to this Cobalt, but with the Auto Show coming, I expect Auto Show bonus cash at the Chevy dealer, taking another $500 or so off, and if I can, I may qualify for a college student rebate as well since I am a full-time student at TCC. I can't remember if that is $400 or $600 or even if it is still offered. I might be financing less than $7500 for a brand new car with less than a hundred miles on it if I do this right! The only used car I'm considering so far is a 2005 Taurus sedan with 60K on it for $5989, and it ALSO qualifies for the AirCheck voucher and the $500 for the Intrepid junker, so I'd be looking at $2489 plus TT&L for a 3-year old car with 60K miles and that also is NOT bad at all.
Dallas vs Houston
by occupant1 on Fri Dec 28 22:14:49 PST 2007
Last time I read the Houston newspaper I noticed that the vehicle sales price were several thousand lower than typical sale prices up here. For example, a local dealer has a basic white 2008 Suburban LS 1500 2WD, E85 iron block 5.3, 9-passenger, cloth interior, luggage cross bars, no other options, MSRP of $38425. The sale price after rebates and dealer discounts was $30995. A Houston dealer had a nearly similar vehicle listed, $250 higher MSRP ($38675) for a locking axle, same rebate, and the sale price was $28495. Why would there be a $2500 difference in price in only a 250 mile distance? $2750 if you count the locking axle. Granted, I'd rather have a Yukon XL than a Suburban, but the price difference between the Suburban and Yukon XL is only a couple hundred. But if I could get the Suburban for almost $3000 less than a Yukon up here, that'd be worth it. Maybe I need to start calling Houston GMC dealers to get a rock bottom stripper special price quote on a Yukon XL, 9-passenger, no other options?
My deal - 2007 Tahoe 4x4
by z71bill on Sat Jul 28 14:27:55 PDT 2007
2007 4x4 Tahoe LT3, Z71, Nav, 2 passenger 3rd row, rear camera & rack cross beams MSRP $47,870 Purchase price $37,190.63 Taxes $2,456.07 Title license & state inspection $115.55 Doc fee $50 Total out the door $39,812.25 - I am happy This truck was a trade from a dealership in Dallas to Houston - it was put on a back lot at the Houston dealership - they did not even know it was there for the last 7 months (I discovered it!) - not on their computer inventory was the excuse - the battery was 3/4 dead - had to jump start it. This was not an easy deal - My first offer was $39,500 out the door - dealer wanted $43,870 plus TT&L (about $46,600). Even though it is still considered new - for warranty - I felt a deep discount was in order - because its really a 9 month old vehicle (built 11/06). Still a little concerned about it sitting around so long - I hope the price I got makes up for this. The best part - wife and I went to Edmunds and picked the options we wanted - then decided on the color - white with ebony & titanium - this truck was EXACTLY what we had picked - that is a first. BTW - sold my trade (2001 Tahoe 2wd) to CarMax - they paid me $12K - Toyota figured my trade was worth $7,500 - Chevy dealer $8,000 - this was even after I showed them the CarMax quote - I would give CarMax an A+ - very easy to deal with.
Bargains Abound

Got ours for $6.336.00 under sticker. Fully equipped Z-66 except luggage carrier. Also got the GM extended warranty for 72 months/75k miles for $1300. I think they got to us on the warranty, but didn't complain since I thought the discount on the AV was pretty good. First tank of gas was around 18.8 (half city/half highway), and yes, I took it very easy for the first 500. We also took advantage of the 0% financing. Its a cool unit.
