purchased equinox 2010 1lt- admin fees, title & tag transfer fees?
by markm75 on Sun Nov 08 05:43:35 PST 2009
So i finally found the exact car i had been looking for.. it was the 1lt that has bluetooth and the rear view camera.. though i get in there, and realize it also had the cargo package, so that made the msrp 26910 or so I used the supplier discount through the credit union to get them to reduce the sale price to 25,510. However, when they write up the sales slip they then show a $325 admin fee and a $198 title/plate transfer fee. I tried to get them to at least get rid of the admin fee but it was a no go. Is $198 (in PA) typical to transfer the title and plates from my old car? Any tricks to get them to remove this admin fee... I basically signed a temporary financing paper on Saturday that let me take the car home until wednesday when i get approval on the loan from my other credit union. (I have one already approved but at a higher interest rate, 7.55 while the other is only 5.25 if i get it). Is it too late to haggle on the admin fee at least? I heard there is a 3 day return period? Any thoughts.. Thanks
supplier price? equinox '10 LT1 .. good price?

I've been struggling here in western pa to find the right match of specs that i wanted in the equinox.. IE: to get bluetooth and the rear view camera, you have to go LT1.. sometimes i'd find an 1LT with bluetooth but no camera etc..(cant add camera later, unless go with a dashboard type) Finding red with this combo has been hard too (no time to order, trying to wrap up purchase in the next week or so).. The best price i have been able to get has been 25,298 after a $900 credit union discount and the $500 60 day deal (off msrp of 26,670).. actually, originally i think i had this quote on an msrp of 26,320 or so.. so maybe this isnt so bad.. My current price on a vehicle i can find, which has msrp of 26,950 or so (has cargo package).. is 25,555.. Does anyone know if this is a good price and exactly what is the supplier discount.. does this vary from dealer to dealer? so is mine $400+500 (supplier discount + 500?) + 500.. Anyone know of any other tricks to get them to lower the price a bit more? Thanks for any help

Not sure where you came up with 10K down? If you look at the figures, I still owe $8100 on my trade so I put that back into the total depreciation figure. If indeed I did offer to put 10K down on a lease, I would need to see a shrink about that. LOL Sorry you misunderstood. I did forgo this deal anyhow as I think leasing for 48 months is just a bit too long. I'll be shopping for a 36 month deal once the November numbers on leases start showing up. Car-Man, any new changes coming for GMAC leases on a Traverse LT1 in November? Or might they stay the same as October? I live in PA> Thanks

Car man- Thank you for confirming those numbers for me. I worked up a payment using the following numbers and would like you to look it over, tell me if I'm doing it right. Known Values: MSRP: $34715 Residual: $13191 (38% of MSRP) Money Factor: .1.25% or .0005 (Dealer quoted me 2.5%) Dealer fees: $1400 ($795 incept, $450 sec. dep. $155 tags) Negotiated Selling Price of Vehicle: Dealer Invoice: $33005 (Price paying for vehicle) Trade Value: $8000 (Price for trade) Dealer Incentive: $1900 (GM Rebate for lease of 2010 1LT AWD) Down Payment: $3175 (GM Card rebate $875 + $500 Fall Care Promo plus $1800 cash) Total Selling Price: $19930 Use Value (depreciation): Invoice Price (plus) Trade Payoff (plus) Dealer fees (minus) Residual $19930 + $8100 + 1400 - $13191 = $16239 Depreciation Payment of Lease: Depreciation value divided by length of lease $16239 / 48 months = $338.31 per month Interest Payment Calculations: Invoice Price (plus) Residual (multiplied by) Money Factor $19930 + $13191 multiplied by .0005 = $16.56 per month Base Lease Payment Calculations: Depreciation Payment + Interest Payment $338.31 + $16.56 $354.87 per month Sales Tax Payment Calculations: Base Lease Payment (multiplied by) PA Sales Tax Rate $354.87 multiplied by .09 (6 % sales tax + 3% lease tax) = $31.93 per month Total Lease Payment Calculations: Depreciation Payment (plus) Interest Payment (plus) Sales Tax = $338.31 + $16.56 + $31.93 = $386.80 per month Can you let me know if I did my calcs right or if I missed something? Thanks for all your help. You are a true asset to these forums.

Yes, the Rogue has had lots of tranny issues but mostly with the AWD model. However, that was during the first 2 years. Now things "appeared" to have been resolved for the most part. I've always said to avoid the first year and sometimes second year release of a new model if possible.

You got what your trade was worth, per trade-in value. Also got the tax break on the trade in value/ You signed and took delivery. Now you question the deal after delivery? I don't get it. Sure maybe you could have done better. At what expense to get a few more dollars off? Buyers remorse? The 10 might be but the 11 should be a winner.
