Buying a car from a Chevrolet Car Dealer

Re: $5,050 Ally Incentive [Car_man] by db192psu on Tue Dec 28 19:00:32 PST 2010

Today I stopped by a chevy dealer in PA to speak with them about leasing Silverado LS Extended Cab MSRP 32960 with a money factor of .0005. Trading in a car to cover the 1700 odd dollars down. First asking price from the sales man was 378, last offer was 348. He used to US bank , not Ally and would not explain why he wouldn't use Ally when questioned. He also stated that I didn't qualify for all the incentives a mailer for GM owners, and USAA. Any help Car_Man would be appreciated. Are the lease incentives through Ally still available, and could you give me a price where you think i should shoot for. I was thinking 269+ Tax and Tags would put me around 295-300. Thanks

2011 LT-1 FWD by wnuk on Mon Sep 13 16:58:19 PDT 2010

Finsihed a deal on a 2011 Mocha Steel FWD LT-1 four cylinder with drivers convenience package. I did not go with the deal I talked about a few posts back since that Nox was gold and I wanted the Mocha. The deal broke down this way: MSRP: $25500 (destination included) Selling price: $24575 trade credit: $7700 (Edmunds trade value was $6890 for 06 Grand Caravan) trade balance still owed: $4972 ($2728 trade equity) Tax: $922 (6% PA sales tax) Tag transfer: $47 Doc fee: $123 GM Card Points: $1500 Total Selling Price: $21445 This was a much better deal than I expected go into the dealership. He was 70 miles from me and had it on his lot. I got this price with NO haggling. His trade credit was $700 more than what I was expecting. I was extremely pleased with both the sales person and sales manager. They held no punches or tried any B.S. Before they came back with pricing I did make them aware that I had intentions of visiting 4 dealers today to find the best deal I could (this was truthful). After their offer came to me I still wanted to visit another dealership to see what they would offer. The second dealership had an LT-1 FWD in Mocha Steel just come off the truck this AM. It did not have the drivers convenience package like at the first dealership so was stickered at $24670. This dealer refused to drop anything off of sticker price and was $2000 less on my trade. When I told him of the offer I had just got, he gave me the typical "Don't know how he's doing that!" line. But said he was not even going to try to match it and that the 1st dealer was probably just "dangling a carrot in front of me" and that he wouldn't hold to those numbers. I got out of there as quick as I could, called the first dealer back and confirmed all the numbers. Told him I'd be back in a half hour for it. :) The F&I went smooth as can be also. Before filling out any paperwork I stated up front that I didn't have any interest in extended warranty's, fabric protection, waxing, etc. They said no problem and skipped by all that with ease. I couldn't be happier as of now. The drive home and to the gas station was 72.3 miles total. 25 was city/ 2lane streets and 47 was highway. Set the cruise at 68 for the highway drive. The tank took just 2.159 gallons to fill back up for a 33.48 fuel mileage average. There are deals to be made out there, just takes a lot of searching.

Re: GM thinks they're Honda and Toyota overnight [colt_hero] by ems1 on Thu Jan 07 05:28:41 PST 2010

I just bought a 2010 LT1 Equinox and am not at all concerned with the long term reliability. I traded a 2006 Saturn Vue for the Equinox. The Equinox is based on the Vue platform that was introduced in 2002 and has had the "bugs" worked out for a few years now. The same can be said for the engine. This is amusing, I bought the Vue because it had a Honda drivetrain that I thought would be bullet proof. Guess what prompted me to trade the Vue? It was the Honda transmission that turned out to be trouble prone! I test drove nearly all the competition and the Equinox had the best combination of room, performance & price; in my opinion. The dealer was very competitive in price, offering an overallowance for my trade and discount off the MSRP.

Re: purchased equinox 2010 1lt- admin fees, title & tag transfer fees? [markm75] by wallyuwl on Sun Nov 08 14:03:09 PST 2009

The admin fee is pretty standard. The one your dealer is charging is a little high, but not out of the stratosphere. Usually with higher admin fees you can bargain the price down a little more. If you are getting the supplier discount, all of that comes from GM. So there is still the amount between invoice and supplier for your to bargain. I have no idea about the transfer fee in PA if that is typical or not as I don't live there. That is a question for your local DMV or County Clerk (whoever handles registrations). Some states have a three day return period. PA may be one, not sure.

Re: is this a good price? [jessica873] by umpire19 on Sun Jul 19 12:33:51 PDT 2009

I went to a NE Pennsy Acadia dealer first, and got the run around with my trade, a loaded 2005 Trailblazer LT, with 87000 mi. on it. I walked, even tho' we got within $800 of my goal. Yesterday - went to my local chevy dealer in PA, and looked at 2009 Traverse, with navi, trailer package and rear view cam, MSRP $37, 900, and GMS priced at $36 202. rebates were worth 2500 off that, or 0 % finance. I went for the 0 % over 60 mo, and got $11, 200 for the Trailblazer. Got dealer to take all the fees except State tax and tags, out of the 25 grand balance. Both dealers didn't want to do much about going below the GMS pricing, although, the chevy wound up to be 200 below invoice. Love the vehicle BTW, but maybe could've done a little better, Feel like I contributed some $$ back into OBAMA'S BAILOUT $$$ Package.
