Re: Response to 10k off [ja_lopezjr]

I beg to differ. It was previously stated here that you should expect at least $10,000 off any 2007 silverado with a MSRP over $30,000. Infact if you go up to posting # 371 jfritsch said: "A very good deal on that would be around 22000-23000 or so. (with the extra stuff) See if you can get it into that range." The original MSRP of the 2007 silverado crew cab I was talking about was $31,300 The adjusted MSRP as of a few days ago was $32,494. (They added limo tint & 5 spoke factory aluminum wheels.) So the $22,000 to $23,000 range jfritsch is talking about is still this fabled $10,000 off MSRP Granted $20,000 was a lower offer. $1,300 lower than $10,000 off we are talking about, but asking $26,889 is also a far cry from $10,000 off the MSRP. That is more like $4,411 off MSRP & this included all rebates etc. I was willing to go up but the all the dealers were stuck @ Edmunds invoice + $275 + what ever BS they could think to add on to jack up the price and then they'd offer you the rebate. I just don't see this magic MSRP - $10,000 deal happening anytime soon unless there is a large jump in the GM rebates.
Dallas vs Houston
by occupant1 on Fri Dec 28 22:14:49 PST 2007
Last time I read the Houston newspaper I noticed that the vehicle sales price were several thousand lower than typical sale prices up here. For example, a local dealer has a basic white 2008 Suburban LS 1500 2WD, E85 iron block 5.3, 9-passenger, cloth interior, luggage cross bars, no other options, MSRP of $38425. The sale price after rebates and dealer discounts was $30995. A Houston dealer had a nearly similar vehicle listed, $250 higher MSRP ($38675) for a locking axle, same rebate, and the sale price was $28495. Why would there be a $2500 difference in price in only a 250 mile distance? $2750 if you count the locking axle. Granted, I'd rather have a Yukon XL than a Suburban, but the price difference between the Suburban and Yukon XL is only a couple hundred. But if I could get the Suburban for almost $3000 less than a Yukon up here, that'd be worth it. Maybe I need to start calling Houston GMC dealers to get a rock bottom stripper special price quote on a Yukon XL, 9-passenger, no other options?

gotta give you credit 6500 for the unit you got was about as good as it gets for a new car. granted 1. the cobalt/g5 has some advantages over the previous cav/sunfire 2. the cav/sunfire MSRP's were sooooooo unrealistic BUT your deal tops just about any one I have ever seen No tax in NH is always a plus Good shopping brother

Only my personal opinion: they're playing hardball and hoping you don't know what the Maxx is selling for inother areas, or possibly even inyour own are. My original PowerBuy/e-quote inquiries about 10 days ago got me some quotes in the 17,2-17,6 range for an LS with 1SA. I wrote back to a few and asked them to compete with the big volume Chevy dealer, who had the ad car at 15,0. A few wrote back extolling the virtues of buying from their dealership, along with quotes that were ~$1500 lower than their first quote. FWIW, I solicited P-B/Equotes back in late June for our '04 Tahoe. I got MUCH more competitive prices (granted, only a few dealers were competitive) than I got with my Maxx quotes. No idea what happened in those 6-8 weeks. 1) Hit a major library that has lots of local newspaper, and scour those papers for Maxx ads. I've had a number of e-quotes come in much higher than their own ad prices. Hate to say it, but the majority of salesmen assume the customer is completely uninformed, and price product accordingly. 2) Stay in your local area, just extend the range of your P-B price requests. Also, know how many of your vehicle each dealer has on his lot. 3)Talk to the fleet/P-B manager directly (may be different from internet manager), and tell him what your 'cousin' just paid for a Maxx up in Boston. Refer him to the Quirk's internet ad: ask him why the rebartes are the same, but your discount is $1500+ less. You gotta play poker with some of these guys if you wanna save some $.......
LT 2WD Deal....26088 Out the door
by emerone on Thu Jul 03 09:05:49 PDT 2003
After spending time researching used/new on edmunds and other sites, all the rebates avalible made new a viable option. The vehicle that I bought has LT, Driv conv pkg, on-star, steps, cd/cass, lock diff, 3.73, cargo net, all seasons, summit white, MSRP 32,760. Going through Arizona, Bill Heard Chevy Internet Sales Dept taked down to about 500 below invoice @ 29,066. Got 4K rebate, 500 conquest, 400 col grad, 695 on-star (did not have to sign up for a package) total 5,595. Base price of car was 23,471. Add tax @ 7.7% 1,807, lic 514, doc 300 for out the door 26088. I thought I did well considering used 2003 LTs with less options in the area are listed @ 26K, granted you could talk prive down to 23, but after lic of 500 you only save about 2.5K for 15,000 miles (no private car sales tax in AZ) What do you think? good deal? or should I have waited for one of those end of the year blowout sales??? Cheers!
