Re: Chevy Malibu VS. Saturn Aura [40yearfan]

One last note...I visited the local Chevy dealer today and examined some window stickers to determine where the car was built. Of the cars I examined.... The good news... Cobolt 80% US/Canadian Malibu 85% US/Canadian Impala 82% US/Canadian The bad news.... Equinox 55% US/Canadian HHR 40% US/Canadian Aveo 5% US/Canadian The US lost dominance in semi-conductor manufacturing when it decided that memory chips were not profitable and moved manufacturing to Asia. Last week, I read an article that stated GM is exploring the possibility of "outsourcing"its body panel manufacturing needs, as that function is not profitable and can be done cheaper by a 3rd party (read China). Is there a common thread here? I hope not! OK, I'll shut up about this issue now. One last thought, however...I spent a few minutes in and around the Malibu, and I must admit it is a fine looking automobile. If someone was looking for a functional mid-size auto made primarily in North America, this would probably be the car of choice.

If you credit is good and you plan on financing the best deal is the 0.0 financing for 60 months. That is basically a free loan for 5 years. Forget about the $2000 incentive. Interest rates from banks or credit unions are between 5.5 and 6.5% with good credit. With a $30,000 loan at 6% for 5 years you will spend $4,799.04 in interest on the loan. A lot more than you saved with the $2000 incentive. As for negotiating a price at the dealer, I would not pay more than invoice. There is a $440 Factory to Dealer incentive on most Silverado’s and I would make them give you every penny of it. The sales person may not be aware of the incentive but the sales manager definitely knows so don’t get to rude with the sales person just yet. If they act dumb, print this out and take it with you. http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/chevrolet/silverado1500/100911251/incentives.htm- - - l?vdp=off&setzip=78759&state=TX Update: Just noticed the Factory to Dealer incentive is only available to residents of the following: LA/OK/TX/Select Counties in AR/KS/MS/MO/NM. Truck and SUV sales are way down and the purpose of the incentive is to stimulate sales. Also, on the invoice you will see LAM Dealer and LAM Group contribution. That isn’t a contribution in your favor and is just a junk advertising fee to give the dealer more profit. Some dealers will drop it if you push hard enough and others won’t. With truck sales down you have pretty good chance of getting them to do it. Give them the price you will pay and stick with it. They will try every trick to get you to budge. Tell them that if they want to sell you a car, that’s the price. If they say no deal, give them a business card or a piece of paper with you phone number and tell them you are going up the road to XYZ dealership and if they change their mind to give you a call. Also make sure you specify when you give them the price that it is $XX,XXX plus TT&L. Otherwise they will try and add other fees to the price. Good luck. Donnie

2008 GMC Sierra. 1500 Crew Cab 4 x 4 Sle1 Sle1 Preferred Package Z71 Off Road Package Power Pack Plus Package Dr 6-way Power Seat 17" 265 Off Road Tires 3.73 Rear Axle EZ lift Tailgate MSRP 35,755 28,500 Plus Tax Out the Door. Quite a fight at the dealership. They "Forgot" 1,000 of the factory rebate and tried to add 300 in "Doc" fees. He played very upset that he was "losing" 400 on the sale. I felt like I did OK. Let me know if that isn't the case.
Re: 2008 Suburban Lease [mikes4]
by Car_man on Tue Jan 15 03:21:54 PST 2008
Thanks for the additional information, mikes4. OK, according to my calculations, if you were to lease a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban LTZ 4x4 that has an MSRP of $54,300 and a selling price of $46,800 through GMAC right now for 24 months with 15,000 miles per year, your zero down, pre-tax monthly payment would be around $684. The payment for an otherwise identical 36 month lease would be around $634. When negotiating your lease on this truck, keep in mind that the $2,000 customer cash that General Motors is currently providing on it is not compatible with its special lease program. by tutu3 on Thu Jan 03 20:45:41 PST 2008
Recently, I bought a brand new 2008 HHR LS Automatic for $14271 with rebates. With tax+title+fees, out the door price was $15500. It has a black exterior and ebony interior. Do you think the price is OK? Thanks. Tutu3

OK...help me please!! We just got quoted an 07 LT3 Tahoe with Dvd, nav, all the bells and whistles for 39800.00. It already has 3000 miles on it. Is this a good deal or should we try to negotiate it down some more??? ____________________________________________________________________ For an '07 you should be able to do much better than that.....especially for a "used" vehicle and that is just what you are looking at.
