Buying a car from a Chevrolet Car Dealer
New to this. 2011 LT1 AWD. LOng island NY. MSRP 37160 Payments: 448 for 39 months 15k miles Using the residual and rates of 45 and 1.15, this would bring the net cap cost of just above $33000. Is this a good deal, if not would should I expect to pay?
Car_Man: Thank goodness I came across this site. I'm going crazy over here being jerked around... I was originally looking to finance a 2011 Malibu LS- no bells or whistles (perhaps the stupid spare tire options :-/ ) The dealer started off with 22k+, (I'm confused b/c the Chevy site shows starting price at $21,975, then shows $20,735 when I go to "build it") then mysteriously went down to 19995 b/c I said when I called a rep on the phone said they have vehicles ranging from high "teens" to 25k. I told him that was high "nine"teens, not teens. Any hoot, I called other dealers and they said something doesn't sound right - that car could never be sold for that low and it must be with the rebates ($2k) currently being given (on Long Island, NY) and with that being said, I would never be given that rate at the current 0% financing for 60 months - it's either one or the other. So which is it, and am I being jerked around? I was looking to put around $3500 down on the vehicle as well, so my monthly payment would be around $280...but that's if it's possible to actually buy this car at 18,500 or not. I thought the new Malibu is coming out - they should be giving this car away. Isn't that the point of 0% finance offers anyway - to move the cars off the lot?? If I lease (which I prefer not to do) the offer is the following: 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU w/1LS Low-Mileage Lease for Qualified Lessees $179/month 39 month lease. $1,800 due at signing (after all offers). >>> Tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment extra. Mileage charge of $0.18 /mile over 12,000 miles. If I lease shouldn't I be able to lower the base price of the car to get a better lease rate? Also what is the Mfactor on this car? I went to a Hyundai dealership and they wouldn't tell me theirs - I laughed and said you have to, it's what we call "full disclosure" and walked out! Lastly, what would the residual value be on a 39 month lease w/ 12k miles per year on the Malibu LS? I know I'm all over the place with this message, but perhaps you can answer or comment on as much as possible. Dazed and confused ----thanks in advance for your help!
OK so i am trying to buy a used LT1, with 14K on it. Keep in mind 2011 are on sale already, i was offered a brand new 2010 for 19K (MSRP 24K) The asking price for the used that i want is $16,999. I can clearly see that the asking price is BS because for 2 more K i can buy a brand new 2010 or even 2011. My question is what would be the right offer for this car? I am willing to put $3,000 or $4,000 as a down payment, my understanding is that that is above normal. I have been doing some research and i think i can get used 2010 (old design) Sonata that is a former fleet car at $12-$11 with 40+K miles on it, and by all account Sonata is better than Malibu, so is it stupid for me to expect to pay around 11K before taxes and registration for 2010 Used Malibu. This is the car i am looking at, asking price is $16,999 as of this moment, any suggestions. Also keep in mind that i am open to other cars, Malibu is my 3rd choice behind used 2010 Mazda3 and used 2010 Sonata. http://www.newrochellechevrolet.com/details/used-2010-Chevrolet-Malibu-LT-w1LT-N- ew-Rochelle-New-York-City-NY/1G1ZC5EB6AF129793/78698014
CarMan: I'm interested in leasing a 2011 Chevy Traverse AWD SLT2 (including rearview camera, which I think means I have to get navigation - not cool that they swindle you into that, but so it goes...). Can you please tell me the money factor and residual rate for the 2011 Chevy Traverse AWD SLT2 for January? I only need 12K miles per year. What other incentives should I be including in my lease calculation, if any? Also, if you know, what lease prices have others been able to get on this car, model and trim in the NY metro area. I'm also interested in the GMC Acadia - not sure if it or the Traverse is the better car. Can you provide me with the same lease info I request above, but for the Acadia (with trim similar to the trim I want for the Traverse). Many, many thanks. And Happy New Year!
By all means! Unless somebody sees the front end of the hideous thing, $2K off a new 2011 is a good deal. Bring some earplugs with you too. The road noise in the Mazda can lead to hearing loss after 2-3 hours on the highway. Dodgeman07, unless Edmunds Insideline made a typo on their test results, 61.2DB/70mph is pretty quiet for the Mazda 3i touring as shown below. 67DB/70mph seems to be the average for this class. I can't wait to see the Cruze's test drive results to see if its better. Db Idle: 35.2 Db Full Throttle: 66.3 Db 70 mph Cruise: 61.2 http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2010/01/il-track-tested-2010-mazda-3-i-- touring.html
