Re: Suburban Lease - End early? [Car_man]

Is the $2k customer cash and $2k bonus cash available on a lease? i assume the add'l $2000 purchase cash is not. Can you confirm that rates/residual for july did not change when chevy updated incentives yesterday. interesting that none of the ads or chevy website mention the choice of taking $4k/6k on a lease/purchase over the 0% financing for 72 mos..... Given the inventory msot dealers seem to have can we expect that chevy will change around and increase the incentives on "leftovers" starting the week of July 7th or will they allow July to be a bust and wait for August to really blow out leftovers? Also whey hasnt chevy touched the GM card redemption allowances?? I am sitting on over $5k and have to believe that they will at least double the existing $1500 limit that applies to my GM earnings or ideally drop the limits altogether and "reward" card users for the remaining '08s.... my goal is to purchase (maybe lease) an '08 Suburban LTZ stickering for $55k for a total of $12-14k off sticker at 2.9% over 60mos less another $2500-5000 in GM earnings.....Now I just need Chevy to play along and hold the 60mo rate at 2.9%, up the basic customer cash to $4k plus another bonus/purchase/conquest cash of $4k and tinker with the redemption allowances. anyone want to take bets? I suspect that they wont seriously subsidize leases and risk getting these trucks back in 24-39 mos with low residuals and bloated buyout prices based on a soft used market and residuals based on MSRP that was $8-10k higher than the capitalized cost...

If you credit is good and you plan on financing the best deal is the 0.0 financing for 60 months. That is basically a free loan for 5 years. Forget about the $2000 incentive. Interest rates from banks or credit unions are between 5.5 and 6.5% with good credit. With a $30,000 loan at 6% for 5 years you will spend $4,799.04 in interest on the loan. A lot more than you saved with the $2000 incentive. As for negotiating a price at the dealer, I would not pay more than invoice. There is a $440 Factory to Dealer incentive on most Silverado’s and I would make them give you every penny of it. The sales person may not be aware of the incentive but the sales manager definitely knows so don’t get to rude with the sales person just yet. If they act dumb, print this out and take it with you. http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/chevrolet/silverado1500/100911251/incentives.htm- - - l?vdp=off&setzip=78759&state=TX Update: Just noticed the Factory to Dealer incentive is only available to residents of the following: LA/OK/TX/Select Counties in AR/KS/MS/MO/NM. Truck and SUV sales are way down and the purpose of the incentive is to stimulate sales. Also, on the invoice you will see LAM Dealer and LAM Group contribution. That isn’t a contribution in your favor and is just a junk advertising fee to give the dealer more profit. Some dealers will drop it if you push hard enough and others won’t. With truck sales down you have pretty good chance of getting them to do it. Give them the price you will pay and stick with it. They will try every trick to get you to budge. Tell them that if they want to sell you a car, that’s the price. If they say no deal, give them a business card or a piece of paper with you phone number and tell them you are going up the road to XYZ dealership and if they change their mind to give you a call. Also make sure you specify when you give them the price that it is $XX,XXX plus TT&L. Otherwise they will try and add other fees to the price. Good luck. Donnie

Don Brown Chevrolet, St. Louis, MO Just bought a Gold 4WD Suburban with the 5.3L. Major options include: LT3 Equipment group Rear Seat Entertainment System (DVD player with wireless headphones) Power Sunroof Rear Differential 2nd Row heated seats 17" WOL tires Sticker was $48,925 Less: $2000 GM rebate $500 STL tradeshow rebate $1000 owner loyalty $3221 in GM card rebates (not exactly sure how this got so high or why they gave me more than the allowed rebate published on the gmcard website.) Got them to agree to invoice pricing. When I got there, he had an invoice and said he had to add 2% for regional advertising. I would have put up a bigger stink about it, but this was what I was looking for and the loyalty rebate and the gmcard rebate would have changed after tomorrow. Finance guy was a little bit of a hustler. Gave me a sheet to pick my payment and all choices contained a vehicle service contract tied to them. When I said I didn't want a service contract, he wrote a blank line on the contract and asked me to sign there to indicate I had been offered the service contracts, but declined them. Walked out with a final price of $37,895.
