Re: 2008 Chevy Malibu LT1 [mazda6dude]

A mazda 3 i or s sport sedan is about the same width as the malibu, height and is 14" shorter. It seems to have the comparable dimensions as to hip and leg room. The 14" seems to cost you about 25% in luggage capacity, although you gain that back and more with the mazda s sport hatch 5 door. Even the 2.0 liter in the lighter 3 may outperform the Malibu much less the 2.3 liter in the sport and touring models. The mazda3 will turn in a 34' circle, being the same width as the malibu, while the chev will take 40' (the cumbersome old Ford C Victoria police car is 42') Also the electric steering in the base malibu is problematic for some. Definitely test drive both. A similarly equipped 3 will cost you about $16xxx-. With some true deals $15000 and below for the i series. The 3 s sport hatch 5 door fully optioned msrp 19500 sells for 17200 and below all the time. The mazda3 hatch or sedan is stunning on the road in Red, Blue, Gray especially at night, even after 4 years. Read my previous post, and if the if you can't get a quote on the 20000 msrp Malibu LS in the high 16's yet I would move on. You may be able to get a well equipped 22000 msrp mazda6 sedan below 17000. Of all things, even a 08 Hyundai Elantra gls auto (msrp 17000) may be comparable enough for many purposes, Has an unusual hi edmunds editor review rating of 8.3, rates highly with the Civic and 3, is fully equipped, 60/100k mi warranty and seems to sell for under $14000 all day long. Good luck --jjf # I am thinking about buying a new 2008 Chevy Malibu 4 cylinder LT1. What do you all think is a good price including TTL? Feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks Damon for the response. Thank you for the clarification on the Conquest rebate. I had never heard of it and that explains why since it's not offered here in Detroit, MI. I was given a GMS price for the 2LT w/power sunroof on 12/27/07 of $21,556. As of today, the GMS price has now gone up to $22,013.78. The dealer could not explain to me why the price has gone up after the first of the year. Thank you for the 2.3% lease rate info.

i am reading the messages posted and am not finding the same deals. i have been looking at used ltz models. i have come up with the best pricing of about $34K w/nav and dvd, but it has 48K miles. not to interested in that many miles. how and where are you buying a fully loaded ltz new for $33k. i was on the phone today with a dealer that was going to get me an 07 ltz, it had 20.5K miles. he offered it for $39. i told him we had $35 in the budget with no response i told him i thought 37 was too much, he asked, can you do 38 claiming it was 718 miles away and would have more of an expense to go get the truck. i have received my best pricing by mere phone calls explaining what i want and what i don't. they have found them on line at the smart auction, send pics, and know there is less of the guessing game. should there be a different approach? if so how. and how much do they actually have on average as profit. i didn't think there was that much room for them to move. i have seen a number of tahoes in TX at what seems to be a better price than here in south west MI. how much does location play in pricing? thanks for the feedback.

This is just a thought but there are about 3700 chevy dealers in the country vs about 800 gmc, and the silverado is virtually identical. Did you email this deal to about 20-30 gmc and chev dealers end of month (100 mi or so radius) and see if they can beat it or have an acceptable silverado in stock? Or did you just try 2 or 3? I do know that sometimes the rebates and unadvertised dealer incentives can be greater on in stock models and turkey time (end of month again) can be a shooting gallery. Get your bids inclusive of all doc, advertising and other fees and play the top 4 against one another. If you must custom order email to 10-15 gmc dealers at turkey time and see what happens Good luck --jjf Just order from local dealer here in norcal 2008 SIERRA SLT EXCAB SHORTBOX Z71 4X4 EVERYTHING EXCEPT NAV. MSRP 37995: PAID 34488 REBATE -1000 GM CARD -2250 TOTAL 31,238 Plus TTL, EST DELIVLEY 8 WEEKS What do you think ? are advertising fees negotiable , Any Help would great Dave

Found a 2008 Tahoe LT3 (20 mi outside of Phila PA) with MSRP of $46,645. Requested from local dealer an internet quote and he comes back with $39,995 plus 6% tax, title, etc. Terms of financing were not discussed. Included in the quote were incentives, I believe, of $3,750 in total.I believe there is lots more room to go lower. Your thoughts? What should be my final offer?????? Thanks
Did I get hosed?
by rmonti12000 on Tue Sep 11 23:55:09 PDT 2007
Hi. I leased a 2007 Tahoe LTZ in sept. of 2006. It's a 48 month lease w/ 15K mi per year. Ashamed as I should be, I don't remember the "price" of the vehicle. I believe I paid approx. 3000 out of pocket when it was all said and done. My payment is 613.00 / month. My "buyout" for the lease as of today is 42,900. At the end of my lease, Sept. 2010, the residual value will be 27,000. My question is: Did I get hosed? I would like to buy the new TL when it comes out in Fall of 2008, but I am afraid I will be completely upside down on my Tahoe. Did I get hosed at the dealer?
