Re: Rebates [poncho167]

OK... I can get a 2007 2.2 LS with A/T and upgraded radio (MSRP $17,790) for $15,990 out the door, after the rebate (dealer stated as $2500... must mean the LT rebate will soon go to $3000 officially). There was a loss leader at $18,512 MSRP that was advertised for $12K this past weekend at a different dealer, before tax & license. I'm disappointed that this car doesn't come with ABS, but that's my only big concern. (They are also trying to force a $200 payment for etching ID codes on the windows, included in the above price.) Good deal or no? I felt like I should be able to get out the door at closer to $15k, especially considering itthe car's basically devoid of extras. They have two identical 2007 units as the only prior year models on the lot at this dealer. Would appreciate any advice/feedback those with experience would care to give. I basically have the day to think it over. Thanks!

Just a note on fake names - keep in mind that dealerships all have caller ID & they grab your # the second you call. My understanding from books I've read on car buying is that they start a digital file on you the second you have first contact with them. So the fake name thing may make them lose respect (like they had any to begin with lol) for you. Every dealer I've called, when they ask me for my phone #, I ask if they already have it & they admit they do. Unfortunately, like Edward23, I experienced a lot of dealers letting me walk. Tahoes are in short supply here, the 08's haven't hit the lots in any significant numbers & the one I wanted had been sitting on their lot for 577 days. Didn't matter. They were still unwilling to negotiate as much as I expected. Question, re; the supplier & GM discount? Do you have to tell the dealer. Back in 92 we bought a Ford (that we still have) & had a vendor discount. The way it worked was that we never had to say a word to the dealer. We were free to negotiate our best deal & after the purchase, we sent our paperwork into Ford & got a $2K rebate sent directly to us. The dealer & sales rep never knew. Are there any supplier/vendor rebates like that? I would think that would be far more advantageous then having to tell the dealer you have a discount.

I was just offered the following: 07 Tahoe 2wd Black with Black/Titanium Leather LT3 Option pkg 2nd row power, 3rd row 3passenger seat Rainsense Wiper Power Sunroof Power Liftgate Locking Differential Bose premium system DVD Navication Rearview Camera Offroad package MSRP 48,825 Dealer asking 38 + ttl Looks decent however I dont need the offroad pkg, and really dont need the 3rd row seating. So -3k for those two dealer should be asking about 35,500. Id offer 32k? Thats about what I want to spend.
Re: look at cobalt for the next few weeks [flaaveo]

The Cavaliar wasn't a horrible car by any means. I have never owned one but have known several people who have and they are just a reliable and long lasting as anything else if maintained. If I had a need for a used car for commuting that was cheap on the pocket that is what id get. The Cobalt is a totally different car than the Cavaliar other than sharing that arguably best in class EcoTech engine. If you look at the top of the forum you can see the consumer rating section where people post commments about their cars and mileage. Around town most get mid-20's and up to 40 on the highway. In a Car & Driver evaluation in July 2005, the Cobalt had the best mileage for its class barely edging the Corolla with over-all mileage at 28.3 vs 28.1 for the Corolla. That was both city and highway averaged out. The HHR shares the same chassis and engine as the Cobalt and weighs a couple hundred more and some people get upper 20's city in that vehicle as well. The Aveo may not be the best in class mileage for its size, but Motorweek TV did find it better than the Nissan Versa in their evalution. Mid to upper 20's is not bad for a city car.
BE ware of Al Hendrickson Toyota Coconut Creek
by heroshima on Thu Apr 19 06:13:37 PDT 2007
I purchased a 07 Equinox from Al Hendrickson Toyota Coconut Creek with 12600 on the dash, 3 days after I got home and started looking over the finance contracts etc I see that during one of there many opps I forgot to do this that’s reprint the contracts and re-sign them they slipped in 3 separate fees for stuff we did not want IE a "footprints" package a "intire" package and 1900 worth of add ons that aren't even usable because it was covered under one of the other many add ons they put in. Its a shame on me but also a shame on the finance guy for being such a sneak SOB. We called and asked what they were and they couldn’t even give us a strait answer. So Last week I had to take the car in for service the engine light came on, I have a B2B platinum warrantee supposed to cover everything top to bottom, well the service guy said that because it was a used vehicle when we purchased it that they cant honor the warrantee we just paid 4grand for. and that the issue was cause by basically bad driving. Mind you I have only had the car for less than 500 miles.. Id say stay clear of Al Hendrickson Toyota, seems that they will do about anything to make there buck and customer service isn’t a strong point. Needless to Id never buy another car from them this being my 2nd from them and I surely wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
Re: For $25k to $30k how best to equip 07 Silverado??? [gringo1]

EL.........Instead of chasing around to dealers checking prices go to http://www.gmbuypower.com . You can pull up any truck in your area............ About getting $10k off sticker. You won't get that much off since the sticker prices have been reduced the last few years and the rebates reduced. Your best bet is to look for a ex-cab, LT1 pkg, 5.3, trailer tow. You will have all the power goodies and the towing stuff too while keeping the price down. Heres a example in my area of Syracuse NY. 07 x-cab 4x4, v-8, tow pkg., lt-1 pkg. MSRP $27,340 minus dealer discount -$1800, GM trade bonus -$1000 (if you are trading a 99 and up vehicle), -$1000 spring bonus cash, -$1000 truck trade bonus (if your trading a 99 & up GM truck), Final price $22,540 If you find one post the vin and dealer name and zip and I can tell you the GM employee price. You can't get that deal .But you can get close ! Heck the dealer might even show it to ya! Too bad you don't know a GM employee/retiree. They could set ya up with the "GM in the driveway" deal ! You get the set supplier price and don't have to pay advertising fee and the DOC id limited to $75 bucks ! Keep searching and post here...I may be able to hook ya up with a GM employee bud from another site!
