2007 or 2008 Impala SS
by impalaquest on Wed Sep 12 06:16:38 PDT 2007
I took my college age daughter to check out the Impala SS she wants. She and her dad had been to the Central FL dealer the day before to check out the Impalas. They didn't have an 07 in the color she wanted but they knew where to get their hands on an 08 within an hour. The 08 has a sunroof and polished alum wheels($795.00!) which we didn't want-actually we wanted an 07 not an 08 to begin with. The MSRP was $32000.00. We have bought 2 other vehicles there so they gave us 871.00 off as a returning customer and 1000.00 off for the rebate. I guess because they had to get the car from another dealer the salesman told me THEY had to pay the MSRP price for the car and they were only making $495 on the car. We left. The manager called yesterday and I told him why we didn't buy and he promised to check out the numbers and call back but he never called back. Should I even bother going back to this location and try to get a different salesman? I am willing to drive as far as West Palm Beach or Jacksonville to get a good deal. I read the info about faxing bid requests but I don't have a fax machine. My husband sent out for the "online quotes" and sales people have been calling but they aren't giving any quotes they just say they have the car we want to come to their lot to check it out. I am not driving 2 hours away for another MSRP quote!
Re: So much for me gettin the 07 2500HD I ordered [tacomadude]

Well my *08* 2500HD EC 6.0 SLE1 finally arrived at the dealer tonight. I'll be pickin' it up Wed night. She's a looker that's for sure. Definitely the best black paint job I've ever seen. Hopefully it'll be worth the two month wait. I ended up at $500 below invoice plus a $500 rebate (on the '08s) out the door. Too bad that 0% financing isn't available on the '08s, but I got a great deal at my credit union. Overall the dealership has been amazing throughout the ordering process, especially their fleet manager who answered my many many questions... Now I just need to do a lil more research on break-in procedure, since this is my first GM vehicle... :shades:
Re: 2500HD Gas Mileage [carboy3]

Go with the new style, the gas mileage is much better due to the 6-speed auto. In light-footed to average driving, expect 13-15 city and 17-18 highway. If you're a lead foot or tow, expect less obviously... So as you see here this heavy duty gets about the same mileage as most light duty trucks.

Yeah, dealer did a search for me and no dealer in the US has the 2500 configured as I want it (SLE1 4x4 gas, Audio Pkg, Blk/Ebony cloth, HD Trailering, Roof clearance lights, Power sliding window, and 17" rims & tires)... Go figure... So I have just decided to wait for the order. I'm in no hurry, as my current truck is fine. But I'm sure I could get a good deal on leftover 07 stock if they had any. None of the dealers in Jacksonville, FL have any 07 2500HDs left!
So much for me gettin the 07 2500HD I ordered
by tacomadude on Sat Jun 02 08:10:22 PDT 2007
Got a call from GMC dealer yesterday. They said we submitted my order for the 2500HD too late and missed the deadline for the '07s (order placed back in the first week of May). When I placed the order at that time, I specifically asked if we would make the deadline for ordering an '07 and they said no problem. Well, after weeks of the build status not updating, someone finally called and found out the order would not be honored. So now I have to wait til July when Flint starts up '08 prodction. Actually it will probably be more like August once I take delivery... On a positive note, they said the price for my '08 will be no more than $500 more than what we negotiated for the '07 (below invoice, less rebates at time of delivery). So, I'll just have to *patiently* wait now... Anyhow, this is just a minor rant - I could find better info on the internet than what the dealer had. I was not surprised to get the call yesterday.
Re: Discount before Rebate/Financing [imadad2]

Thanks. Also, I've been trying to trace the history on After-Labor-Day incentives to see if last year (Sept 2003) GM continued their August incentives (both rebate and GMAC fi bonus). I would not expect them to go higher than they are right now, but with end of year approaching and industry reports saying SUV sales are still sluggish (and 2005's now on the lots), I lose nothing by waiting 6 weeks to purchase, except maybe on color. Do you know what incentives were offered in Sept last year?
