I went to the dealership today to enquire about purchasing a VW Golf TDI. I did show up on my bicycle so maybe the sales guy thought I couldn't afford a new car. I really wanted to test drive the 2013 VW Golf TDI with a manual transmission. The only TDI in the showroom was a Golf with an automatic transmission. I told the sales guy I would checkout the interior of the Golf on the showroom floor and I asked him to find me a manual transmission model if he had one in stock. I spent 5-10 minutes checking out the one on the showroom floor, expecting the salesman to find the model I was looking for. After I stood around for a couple minutes after playing in the showroom vehicle, it became obvious to me the salesman wasn't taking me seriously and could care less about my requests. I put on my glove and helmet and said "have a nice day" which he replied "you too". That will be the last time I shop Van Nuys VW. In this day and age of mass availability of information via the internet, the only thing dealerships have to compete on is customer service. Van Nuys VW did not even attempt to compete for my business.
