Typical "car guys" [non-permissible content removed]. My sales people were Sharma (the internet sales) and Jose (his manager), a classic good cop/bad cop duo. They have this $200 off coupon online to get you into the dealership gimmick. They sign it and then you can use it on any quote they give you after that. I negotiated an out-the-door price w/Sharma (had it in writing that it's "plus tax and Lic"), and they would refuse to honor the $200 off on it. OK, fine. Then the manager Jose called and said he would honor it and sent Sharma to bring me in (from 30 miles away). I fell for it. After two hours at the dealers turns out there are a bunch of non-required fees on top of the price: document fee, VINage fee (whatever the heck is that), etc etc, I didn't wait for the whole list, just walked out. Hitchhiking on hwy 37 is no fun, but the last bus was gone, and getting a cab after dark was a couple hundred dollar proposition. (They would not drive me back, I humbly asked.) I doubt it's a coincidence Jose decided to call me late in the day. The funny thing was how convincing the manager sounded telling me that those fees are all required, I almost felt sorry for his feelings. Well, not by the state of CA my friend. Moral - a good dealer would deliver a car to your doorstep, with all the paperwork.
