Save Your Valuable Time & Money For A More Honest Dealer

We are straight forward and honest people and started our car search like many people these days on the web. We sent a request to Sunnyvale Toyota asking if they had a Prius II in a specific color and we got a very quick response from their sales person John saying they had the exact car we wanted. We called John to confirm over the phone he had the car and we arranged to drive down from San Francisco to buy the car at the price he quoted. We arrive down at the dealership and John says he was wrong - they dont have the car (this after confirming by both email and phone that they did). As you can imagine, it wasnt the greatest news but whatever, we got up to leave - but then John offered us a Prius III with navigation in the color we were looking for. He had the price written down on a piece of paper, obviously it was more than we were going to be paying for the Prius II but we saw value since we were getting more including Navigation and we agreed to the price. All was well until a few minutes later when John said he got confused and offered us the car at the wrong price and the real price he should have offered it to us was almost $2,000 more. The dealership refused to honor the original price he offered us due to his "mistake". Obviously, this whole fiasco from saying they had the original Prius II in stock to up-sell to the "mistakenly" priced Prius III was all super dishonest. We left the dealership at that point empty handed. Anyway, based on our experience I would avoid this dealer and their dishonest sales practices.

I wish I had read your letter 2 months ago. I am with a little difficulties with the English but I clearly understand this you experienced because my experience with this Autodealer was nearly the same as yours. In this last Month I tested one Prius Auto and after I had struggled understanding the Paperworks and after giving the Salesmen much of my personal information the Salesmen told me he could not sell me the Prius because it was already sold (?). He then tried to sell me another Auto for almost the same Price. In America you have a Saying of "Baits and Switches" (anbeißen nach wechseln)? I think that this is true. After I had waited the Salesmen told me he had made a Mistake and it was late and after all this the second Auto was not there. I write this because I believe what you have written here and I "Pas'-auf!" say to any person that goes there. "Vielen vielen Dank!" (Thank you very much!) I hope other folks write here.
