Don't care for the pressure

Linder Honda is one of those big, fancy, clean dealerships with lots of cars, but more pressure than I cared for. I went in to check out the Pilot and ask questions, telling the salesman I was doing research in order to buy this summer (in a few months when our other car payment ended). They tried to get the deal several times, and towards the end said, 'you know, we're a business that's all about NOW, not this summer.' Well, what's that got to do with me? It's nice that you want me to buy a car, but last time I checked, I was the one who was paying. To be completely fair, I've been there about 3 times before, checking out the CR-V, minivans and also the Pilot before and this is the first time they laid on the pressure like that, trying to get me to buy NOW. But after our last car buying experience, this had all the signs of a dealership with lots of pressure and haggling.

Mr. docnice, You are what the car guys call a beback ( I'll be back and when I do I'll be sure to ask for you) and a tire kicker wasting the salesman's time. A guy that works only on commission. He was doing his job, trying to make a living while you wasted his time. Do yourself a favor. Do your price research on Edmunds. Know what the average selling price is for that vehicle without going to that dealership. Then go waste the time of some poor guy in the next county if you want a test drive. Or, better yet, if you have done ALL of your homework on line, you know what vehicle you want. Go rent one for the weekend. Do all your shopping for price on line. You will know the profit the dealer expects and when an internet manager calls you back, get his price and make an appointment with HIM. Don't walk into a store without an appointment! The car business has changed.With all the info in front of you online, you are in charge. The dealers know this. They are in the business of turning units and if you are NOT in store when you talk price you will do well and enjoy the experience.
