Stay away from their service shop!

I reported a problem with fuel level sensor that had been malfunctioning from time to time, showing different readings on the fuel gauge vs trip computer. While at the dealership for a service recall I brought this up and was told that in order to troubleshoot this kind of problem they need to be able to reproduce that problem, but since it was working at that particular moment I had to go without having that fixed. I would have to catch a moment when it starts doing that and take it there (Oh and make sure not to turn the car off or it could start normally after that!!!). Obviously I never had the right time or was not in the right location to take it there... All this happened when I still had warranty (about 36000 mi on the car at that time). And of course the service manager never bothered to make a note about this. Now guess what? I paid this car off ($34000) and NEXT day after my last payment the "check engine" comes on. I took it to my mechanic shop and they hooked up the diagnostics machine which gave some kind of "Fuel Level Sensor" code. I called the dealership to find the records about the history of this problem and to my surprise they didn't have anything like that. So, my next step was to call Nissan North America and see if there's any known issues with this sensor and maybe ask to help me with this issue. The person who was working with me was very helpful and willing to do everything possble to get this fixed, but I had to take the car to the dealership for "official" diagnostics. Another surprise!!! It costs $193 and 2 hours for the same thing that my mechanic did for free and in less than a minute!!! And last but not least, they refuse to provide any financial support, because I wasn't taking my car to them for repairs and service (I have every single receipt and did every single recommended, scheduled maintenance on this car, but in different mechanic shop) and so the service manager decided not to approve this repair. I'm in process of requesting a FULL refund for the darn diagnostics and will have the issue resolved somewhere else for about 1/2 the price they quoted me. This is unbelievable!!!
