After dropping our car off to be serviced for a humming sound from the rear passenger side tire (I explained that it was a bearing issue at drop off) they turned around and said it was a front strut issue and it needed to be replaced. After replacing the front strut they called to have the car picked up... turns out the humming sound was still present (as it was the bearing and not the strut) and there was a new issue, now there was a clanking sound from the front of the car when i accelerated or kept a constant 2k RPM. I returned the car and asked them to resolve the issue. They looked the car over again and my gosh the identified the problem as a rear bearing leak... wow really, I would have never known after doing a simple search online describing the problem! They attempted to replace the bearings and broke a few bolts in the process. This delayed the delivery date and in the end they took 0 responsibility for the bolts (they said we had rust that caused the bolts to break) and they argued that the clanking sound from the front of the car was there to begin with. I took my keys paid for the repair and left.... A few months later I took our car to Marin Mazda and we had the car serviced (90k service) and repaired (fixed the problems Oakland created) they said that there was rust under the car but nothing serious and that the clanking sound from the front of the car was from a issue caused by a previous mechanic... I told them nothing of my experience at Oakland! Just asked them if there was rust under the car. In the end Mazda of Oakland tried to screw me over. Too bad in todays digital age these things get around. We ended up trading the car in and buying a new Mazda 3 GT S from Fremont Mazda. We had intended on buying a new car from the get go and wanted to repair any outstanding issue on our car before we did (not wanting to be a scumbag in the process of selling our car). We will never go back to Mazda of Oakland and they lost business on the sales side because of their terrible service. Sad thing is we live about a mile from the Oakland dealership and we now drive upward of 20 miles to get our car serviced at another Mazda dealer.
