Tried to buy a 2011 x5 at Stanford Credit Union used vehicle event on Sunday. Offer accepted, credit approved and then were asked to sign that we had read Carfax report, which we had not seen. Carfax report said no warranty, while sales person AND documentation on window said there was. Dealer promised to throw in a warranty and kept us waiting some time. Suddenly reneged on the warranty (6 month or a year). We did not purchase the car. Went home and did research and decided to settle for 60 day dealer warranty. Car was on ebay on Sunday and Monday several thousand below the "credit union good deal" price. Emailed dealer on Monday, made offer via phone the same as we had had accepted on Sunday, were promised a call back in "5 minutes". Also told the car was back on their lot. No Callback. Tuesday emailed them, got immediate response that the car was sold on Sunday. We were the buyers until 3:30 pm on Sunday and the credit union event ended at 4 pm. And the car was on ebay and "on the lot" on Monday? This was a very bad experience from start to finish. We are reporting this to the Stanford Credit Union with a recommendation that this dealer not be allowed to participate in their events.
