Is the STS really a steal?: by m4d_cow on Fri Jun 27 23:34:28 PDT 2008; Is it true that Cadillacs are a steal in the used car market? I've met a former Cadi salesman who claim that Cadillacs value depreciate big time, making them real killer deals. As an example, he told me that STS and SRX lost at least 40% of its value the first 3 years. DTS even worse, losing almost 50% in 3 years. However he recommend STS when considering cadillac since it has the best quality. If this is true, then I suppose 2ndhand Cadillacs are really worth a look. I'm no fan of domestic brands, but if STSs are that great of a value for money I'd consider it. I've also seen a few dealers selling NEW??? '06 and '07 STS, but no sticker. So I wonder if its really worth it. Any infos appreciated. Thanks

Interestingly, the 2008 Cadillac Escalade's lease rates and residual values are currently exactly the same as the 2007 models' numbers. Take a look at my previous post to see what they are. As a result, given the additional cash incentives and dealer discounts that will be available on them at this point it will be cheaper to lease an '07 model. Last month (May, 2008), I purchased a brand new 2007 Cadillac Escalade with 80 miles from Reynold's Cadillac in Orange, VA. The car has absolutely every available option including: Information Package (Navigation) Rear Entertainment Package (DVD) 22" Chrome Wheels Power Release 2nd Row Seats Rearview Camera System Retractable Running Boards Premium Paint *White Diamond* I paid $52,296 and this included tax, tags, and Gap Insurance. *AWESOME*

Having said this, GM is providing additional bonus cash on Escalade models that have been sitting on dealer lots for a long time. Specifically, there is $1,000 on units that have been in dealer stock since 1/11/07 and $2,000 on models that have been around since 11/12/06. GMAC's base lease rate for a 24 or 39 month lease of an '07 Cadillac Escalade is 6.15%. Its 24 month, 15,000 mile per year residual value is 66% on models without the top of the line wheels and 65% on models with them. The 39 month numbers are 55% and 54%, respectively.
