Can you ask them to confirm the money factor and residual that they are using? That's a good price from them but I wonder if they are bumping up the money factor.

But what is the selling price, etc. Without that info, no one can tell if it's a good deal or not. The multiple security deposits are to bring the money factor (interest rate equivalent) down. It's not always a good idea to put a lot down on a lease. For example, you put $5,000 down. A month later the car gets stolen or totaled. The insurance pays out to the leasing company but you're $5,000 out of pocket. I'm not 100% sure on the figures but a lease on a Z4M should look something like this at the moment (this is for my state of Oregon so your tax and tags will vary)' Z4M with premium package; MSRP: $55,200 Selling Price: $44,000 (Edmunds TMV - marketing support of $7,500) Lease Term: 24 months Money factor: 0.0275 Residual: 68% Security deposit: $450 Acquisition fee: $550 Tax and tags: $128 (Oregon!) So, with, say, $2000 down (total down here would be $3128, gives us a monthly of $455 + tax. Of course, this will be higher for states with higher DMV fees. Also, you'd need to find a dealer willing to sell at the TMV minus the marketing support.

Re: Advice needed: 2007 328i coupe Lease [outie]
by kyfdx on Sun Feb 11 09:28:04 PST 2007
Actually, those numbers look pretty good.. The base money factor on the 328Ci coupe from last month was .00125, which would be .0014 without a security deposit... so, I'd say your dealer's numbers are right on... Your dealer is rolling the acquisition fee into the security deposit. The base fee is $625, but it looks like he is probably marking it up to the maximum of $825. This results in a CAP cost of $37125. If you use that number, I get right around $476/mo.+tax.. which is within a couple of dollars of your dealer. Taking the bumped up fee into account, your dealer is giving you a discount of around $1175 on the car... but, all base rates after that.. I would characterize that as a decent deal.. I'm not really up on the normal discount for a coupe. The dealer isn't bending over backwards, but they aren't really trying to take you either.. The leasing program is very good for a coupe, however... and that is what is making it a good deal. My only advice, other than asking for a lower selling price, would be to make a security deposit. This will lower the money factor to the base amount (.00125), and will lower the payment by $9/month. I'm basing all this on the numbers being the same as last month, which seems to be the case, based on your quote. regards, kyfdx PS: Definitely finalize the deal and lock in the February rates. Ask the dealer if you can defer delivery until the March rates come out, and use them, if they are better. Other than pushing the sale of your car to the next month, it won't cost them anything to do that.
X3 Leasing....
by mapperman on Sat Jun 24 22:22:12 PDT 2006
I am looking to lease an X3 BMW. I have no experience with making "deals" as far as leasing goes. Could you please explain to me what I can do and what I should know going into this experience. I do not want to get ripped off. I am looking at X3's range 41-45K. I live in Bend, Oregon. there is only one BMW dealer here in town. should I drive over to the valley...Salem/Portland to get a better deal? I have Volvo V50 2005 at this time. can I make any deals with a trade-in? the Volvo is bluebooked at around 25K+. what is the best way to approach this? please help. I don't want to be ignorant going into this lease. Thanks,

Yeah... if you add all of that on, it comes out to just about $771/mo.. I'm assuming with just the first payment and security deposit due at signing.. 1/36th of the taxes? More or less... actually, they just add it to the cap cost, and figure it into the lease.. so, you are paying a little bit of finance charge on it and the amount is slightly more than 1/36th.. A couple of things: The base acquisition fee is $625, so they are marking this up... and, I'm guessing that the $395 is for tire/wheel insurance, in case you bend a rim or blow out a tire.. I don't like to buy these kinds of plans, but others swear by them... So, all in all... not a bad deal.. but, the sales taxes are onerous on leases in Texas... As I had guessed, about $100/mo. just for tax... the other $20/mo. is for the tire/wheel insurance and a bumped up acq.fee... regards, kyfdx Host-Prices Paid Forums
