Buying a car from a BMW Car Dealer
I have a dealer in Manhattan that is giving me the "selling price" of $52,225/( with options of comfort access, premium package, cold weather package, rear climate). the 58% residual and 0.00270 MF.(my lease on my x5 ends next month). Total of 750.25 monthly. I told him that I wld pay 625 up front with taxes. MV fee, and 1st mth pymt. He quoted this as having to pay out of pocket $4006.17. BTW he said that in all his "upteenth" years working he has never heard of anyone paying the bank fee upfront! Is this a sound deal? AND he said there is no previous owner loyalty MF on this. AND he did not use the refundable monies that will be coming back to me from BMWFS as 'security deposits". IS THIS A GREAT DEAL? He said this was $1000.00 over invoice. Yet - he sold me the X5 (36 months ago) that I have right now at $750 over invoice - and now the numbers are so high and different. I have the same options with the exception of the comfort access & pay right now $559 monthly!!!! WHY IS THAT Here's another question - how would I know if the money factor and residuals are going to change for February expecially since the rates are down now 'cause of news of 'recession'????? Please let me know asap. Thanks
24 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 70% of MSRP – .00200 Base Money Factor Rate 36 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 60% of MSRP – .00200 Base Money Factor Rate Add 2% for 12K miles per year. As to $1,000 over invoice that will not be easy. $1,500 should be doable.
I thnk dealers shld get a grip & realize that there are educated consumers like us. Their numbers fluctuate all the time, and I have found that many dealers now send you to a 'consultant" which is code for salesperson which means "HAGGLE"! That's exactly what we don't want. We know the Dealer Invoice and the MSRP. Then we have the options dealer invoice & MSRP. STILL THEY DON'T WANT TO BUDGE. OR THEY ARE SIMPLY RUDE WITH THEIR EMAILS LIKE GOOD LUCK. NO DEALER WILL EVER SELL IT AT BLAH BLAH BLAH. IT'S GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO GET THE SWEET DEAL. Anyway, does anyone know what the real residual and money factor is for the 3 series? I am in LI, and all the dealers here suck! Don't even try to negotiate with them. They are rude and arrogant. I am looking for the "deal" on the 3 series. Anyone with sound numbers?
I closed a deal in upstate NY yesterday on a 330i manual with the following: performance pkg metallic paint leather winter pkg moonroof Xenon MSRP, including destination was $44470 We paid $38785 and they included mats AND 1.9% financing! The only add-ons were for state inspection fee ($10), state required tire disposal fee ($12.50) and a document processing fee ($45) for doing the leg work on the registration and insurance stuff. There was no advertising fee or anything else. I'm picking it up on Thursday. Man, it's amazing what can be done with the internet and the discussions we have here on Edmunds. Happy driving! P.S. On Thursday I spoke with the proud owner of a new Acura TL with manny tranny, aero options and a second set of tires. It was a beautiful car, but not a BMW. We all know that MSRP on the car, with no manufacturer options available, is low $33K. He tells me that, with the dealer installed options including aero body parts, upgraded wheels (they are selling him four new 18" Acura wheels - which they claim cost $800 each - and then they are putting four snows on the newly removed std equipment wheels for him) and the new snow tires, he paid $43K. Can you say "snow job"?? He said he looked at the 330, but they were too expensive! Somebody needs to teach this youngster to do his homework!
