Buying a car from a BMW Car Dealer

NJ BMW Car Consumer Discussions

2012 BMW X5 35i - Bought in NY, I am from NJ by getvas on Tue Jan 03 12:51:01 PST 2012

I have placed order on a 2012 BMW X5 35i with Platinum Gray Metallic exterior & Cinnamon Brown interior and added the following options.. > CINNAMON BROWN, NEVADA LEATHER SEAT TRIM (LUEZ) > CONVENIENCE PKG (ZCV) > DARK BURL WALNUT WOOD TRIM (4AB) > BMW ON-BOARD NAVIGATION SYSTEM (609) > 3RD ROW SEAT (4UB) > HEATED FRONT SEATS (494) and > REAR MANUAL SIDE WINDOW SHADES (417) The Vehicle's MSRP as configured is $56,275 The Invoice price is $52,345 - Navigation Incentive is $1,730 + Dealer Fee is $500 = $51,115 I am a resident of NJ but ordered in NY as my local dealer quoted $52,000, if I do not finance from BMW. This dealer in NY is willing to reduce it below $51,115 if I finance it from them, but I got loan for 1.9 APR from a credit union. Also one more thing I noticed in NJ is that the Dealer Doc Fees are between $250 to $400 depending on the dealership, where as in NY the Dealer Doc Fee Max is $75 and there is also a $10 Tire Management Fee. So, my total on road price came too... Vehicle Price: 51,115.00 NJ 7% Tax: 03,578.05 NJ 0.4% Luxury Tax: 00,204.51 Title & Reg : 00,350.00 [Approx] Dealer Doc Fee: 75.00 Tire Mgmt Fee: 10.00 --------------------------------------- TOTAL PRICE: 55,332.56 --------------------------------------- So, what are your comments on this deal... Regards.

535i x drive wagon- lease question by wedgeman on Tue Sep 29 11:27:36 PDT 2009

I am about to sign lease w/ JMK BMW in NJ - 36 months - 15k miles/year; $15k down (includes Audi trade-in); MSRP = 60,170; Invoice = 55,925; "Price" on lease sheet = 57,000. MF = .00165 and .58 residual. Lease cost = $455/month. Liive Union County, NJ; Reasonable??? Should I be asking for .00155, and, for $500 above the invoice price?

Re: what should i pay for this ? 325XIA [lahermano] by mattr82 on Mon Apr 03 18:50:48 PDT 2006

Hey Lahermano, Sorry the car did not turn out to be what you were looking for. As far as another dealer giving you the exact same car, seems unlikely. The only way you could probably be certain however is through the VIN #. It is totally illegal to roll back mileage as I am sure you know. I doubt they would risk it on a new car. I would never purchase a loaner car, most are never properly broken in, people treat them like garbage, and I doubt that the car was getting filled up with premium gas. Again, I recommend doing everything through e-mail. Just send out a mass e-mail to dealers in Mass/CT/NJ, asking if they have something around the specs you are looking for, but you are flexible, and will purchase immediately given the right price. I would also forward the quote you received from the dealer on your non-leather vehicle to this dealer/others and see if they can match it accordingly. I would try to create the sense that you don't need to buy the car this second and you are flexible on the color/options, even though you are not. The more information a dealer knows, the more they will use it against you. Also, why not contact the original dealer offering you the good deal on the leatherette car and see if he can get you this car? I am not sure on financing the car, I would imagine you should get the rates from various credit unions. 7.5% seems quite high, I don't know how good your credit is. Matt

Re: Need Opinions on Z-4 Pricing [kyfdx] by k2xx on Sat Jul 02 13:47:30 PDT 2005

I just wanted to let you know that I did buy the 3.0L Z4 with SMG. Apparently, it was the only SMG available in the northeast. The car has all the usual schmalz (xenon, heated seats, sport and premium packages, BMW assist, metallic paint and hardtop prep). The dealer's cost according to Consumers' Union was $40,915 (includes $4,500 incentive). I paid $40,851. It was the last day of the month, and I suspect they might have been in a cash flow bind. Here's some additional advice to those who live in the southeast. Dealers there are consistently high. One dealership in Roanoke, VA quoted me the MSRP: $48,500. Another in Winston-Salem, NC quoted $45,949 (included sports seats and driver's fee for bringing it up from Florida). I had precisely the same experience when buying two brand new Toyotas in 2003. The local VA dealer was $5,000 high on each car. I saved $10,000 by merely buying the cars in NJ! Competition is a consumer's best friend. Again, thanks for your help and advice. Best regards, Joe
