Sorry - exact opposite from the West Coast. I am in NY, NJ, PA area. The spread between MSRP and your purchase offer lokks really good by my area standards. I am trying to buy 2012 X5 Diesel with Cold, Premium, Technology and Sport Activity packages + 20" Wheels and Premium Sound with Satellite radio andRunning Boards and BMW apps - comes out to $68,725MSRP - deducting ECO and NAV credits results $64,475 - I am trying to pay $60K, but so far no willing sellers. It is too new -- so will wait a little - even BMW site does not have the BYO for 3.5D model

You can protect yourself from such a potential loss by getting full replacement insurance policy, like Allstate Platinum. In that case, if the car is totalled, you get a brand new car and you continue with the lease as if nothing happened - albeit with a new car. The increased premium is worth it. Note that this replacement coverage only applies for the first 2 years, but your down payment will be absorbed by then anyway.

I don't know where the Texas cars come in... If they come in through NJ, I doubt going East Coast would save that much time... It only takes a truck 1-2 days to drive to Texas from NJ. It isn't like they work any harder to get the close-by dealer's cars out of the VPC. Now, if they come in on the West Coast, then you might shave off 7-10 days by getting an East Coast dealer.. But, then you'll have to fly up and get the car, then drive it back.. Wouldn't be worth it to me, to save a couple of weeks on re-delivery.. Have you seen the price of gas?
