Service costs vary a lot. If i go to the dealer in downtown chicago, i will be out over well over a grand for an inspection 2, and frankly, i don't think much of their service department. I brought in my car for a few small issues once and they found nothing but wanted to charge me for an unneeded radiator flush. I have had good experience with albuquerque BMW way back when, and with roanoke BMW--the latter seems to be a really great outfit. So seeing as the service package is fixed price, it's probably a good deal if the dealer you will be using is expensive.

I think the 19" wheels & Aero kit 335i is gone now. I found that one and other good 3-series from the Luxury Motors website (same domain name as the company name). That car was in the Chicago area. I think that company is still selling some good 3-series (there is a 2007 328i wagon selling for $26K).

Illinois doesn't charge yearly property tax on a car ( how awful!) but you do pay tax on the who purchase price of the lease car.. There is an extra chicago sales tax, and a special car and lease tax in the city of chicago too, so you're shelling out more than 10% of the purchase price up front. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales_taxes_in_the_United_States#Illinois I may wait to get the next car until i get that hideaway in wisconsin, and i can register it there. :)

2008 535i leasing question
by ribnar on Sun Feb 17 08:08:01 PST 2008
Hi I am new to this forum and have a question. I am from Chicago IL. I am interested in leasing a 2008 535i with Premium package and Sports Package. The MSRP is 57,525. I am told by the dealer that there is a special factory discount of 2500 plus i haggled another 2000 out of them and the net cap cost for the lease is 53000. I am new to US and hence do not have any credit history. They agreed to lease based on my job details, company letter etc. but here is the deal i am getting for a 36 month/18000 miles per year: Depreciation 60%, Money Factor 0.00375 (APR 9%), Total lease payment is $889. Is this worth exploring?

It will be *much* cheaper and better to just stick a set of snow tires on the car. Or just drive a little slower on those runflats. :)
