Re: End of Lease Experiece [two50man]

two50man, I have a CPO 2007 530i, with almost identical features except the split rear seats and ski thing (whatever that is). I bought it last June at Greenwich CT BMW when it had 24K miles on the clock, they were asking $36,900, and came down to $36,200. The car is pristine, and still smells new even. It runs beautifully and I love it. It has a set of Bridgestone Potenza low profiles on it, I have Sports pkg also, and the sport rims that come with it. I am wondering if my tires are "run flats" how can I tell? Since I have a donut for a spare, I have to assume I have the run flats? I s that a correct assumption? My dealer told me just the opposite, that if I have a donut, then I don't have run flats. Can any one shed some light on it? Also, I read an article in the WSJ lately, that those same Bridgestone's are about $410 each. That seems like a lot of money. They are practically new, so I don't need to worry about it yet.

Further on the sports package: I have a 2007 530i that I bought from the dealer in Greenwich, CT. Vehicle had 24K on it. Sports package also gives you the black trim around the windows ("shadow line") and also sport rims. Now, if the car is "xi" then you get the regular rims that come with the 5 series even without the sports package and I don't under stand that. So that's two extra features you get with Sports. I love my vehicle.

Hiya Speedy, I went with the 530i because it has the slightly larger engine, yet is not a gas guzzler by any stretch (like the 535i with twin turbos). Also, I love the sporty look of the 530 with Sports pkg, which is what I have. I don't like the chrome around the windows, I have the "shadow line" trim which is solid black around the windows. My out the door was just over $38K with everything. That included 6% sales tax on the vehicle, plus $275 dealer fees, $120 registration, and also remember that included the $1,675 extended maintenance, less the $2000 trade in value. Dealer fees I was surprised only $275, I have seen them up to $499 at some dealerships, I guess that is dependent on the dealership. Considering I bought mine in Greenwich, CT, I was surprised. You won't face extraordinary costs. Be careful with the financing contract: they are trained to upsell you on the contract by adding in "insurance, security, " crap that you don't need, which just increases the monthly payment amount. I turned it all DOWN FLAT. The guy looked disappointed, because they get a commissh. You don't need any of it. I got 3.9% financing, which I thought was very good, but I only financed about one third of the car. You can pay it off anytime, no penalty. Also, I got a call today from BMW finance, just to confirm details. They tried to sell me a BMW credit card!! I said NO, thanks, and he was very polite, and finished the conversation. YOu have to know how to handle these people, they are trained to do their jobs, no sense in getting angry with them, they are just trying to make a living separating us from our money. LOL. I love the car. Glad I did it while I had the dough. Who knows with this government if they're going to tax the air we breath any day now, we'll have nothing left!! Take care, let me know how you make out. Gardis - CT

Speedy, I just bought a CPO 2007 530i from the dealer in Greenwich, CT, paid $36,200 for the vehicle, with 24K miles on it. The car is flawless, has Premium, Cold, Prem. Sound , Sports and Nav. I ordered the extended warranty which extends the service warrany by two years. Cost: $1675. So figure that's 850 per year cost. I thought it was well worth it, just in case. Good luck, and let me know how you make out.
I made a Deal Guys!
by gardis on Sat May 30 12:58:06 PDT 2009
Well guys, after all these months of gut wrenching emotion, I finally made a nice deal today at the BMW dealer in Greenwich CT. Remember I had seen a beautiful Alpine White 2007 530i with Sports pkg, which is just what I was looking for, with low miles. My sales girl, who's been working with me since November, was able to work with the other dealer because they are all owned by the same BMW parent company apparently. So one of the Greenwich manager's who lives in NJ, is going to pick up the car next week, and drive it over to Greenwich. Meanwhile, the asking price was $36,999 (premium, cold, SPORTS, NAV, prem sound, comfort access, etc) 24K miles, Warranty expiration June 26, 2012. I got the car for $36,200. My heart was in my mouth over my trade in (1996 328i, 109K miles) and somehow, they had the impression I wanted $2500 for it. Well the manager reviewed the car while I was talking to the saleswoman. He came in, and started with "well, I know you wanted $2500 for it (I never said that, I actually thought they'd offer me about $1200), but it has a few issues, and I could do $1500, maybe $2000 since you really want the car." I accepted the $2000 right on the spot, and that ended the negotiation part of it. I'm satisfied with it. Look the car has low treads in the rear set, sunroof inoperational, and ABS light comes on which the Darien dealer told me is a wheel sensor ($275). So I'm giving them a large down payment, and financing only about 30% of it at 3.9%, she said maybe they'd do a little better. we'll see. The car is a cream puff, Alpine White, with black leather, and I am so excited I fnally found a car. I know I paid maybe a little more, but you know something, I keep my vehicles a long time, so that extra money will be amortized over the life of the vehicle. Also - I bought the extended service warranty for $1695, which extended the service warranty until the end of the main warranty, which is June 2012. I felt it was worth the $800 per year extra for that. Peace of mind. Otherwise the 4 year warranty was running out in June 2010. I want to make sure my 30K mile servicing is FREE. Now it will be. I thought this was well worth it, I know they probably took me, but since the BMW dealer sold it to me, I have no doubt about it. It went onto the amount to financce, and yes, I realize it's a gimmick, but still it's there if I need it. Well what do you think guys!!!

When the adaptive feature of the headlights fails there are 2 indicators that let you know about it. The green light blinks - the one to the left of the headlight controls. And a warning symbol appears in the computer info display behind the steering wheel. Also, I could tell that they were not working while driving at night. I finished reading the owner's manual tonight. I am also wondering about my alarm. I lock the car using the remote and the clown nose does not blink. My car also did not come with an emergency kit, but it is not clear to me that it should. It is one of those * items in the owner's manual. Are you sure that we're supposed to have it? Which package does it come with, or is it standard on the 330? Oddly, BMW of Greenwich's service center is located in NY (Portchester) even though their sales center is located in CT (Greenwich). So the service center does NYS inspections. My CA is such a newbie. He's had some screwups, as you might expect. If I'm being honest, I would not give him 5s. But he's a real nice guy and I'd like to do my small part (even if I'm not being completely honest) to give him an opportunity to score some extra cash or whatever other benefits CAs derive from 5s. Today I received in the mail a thank you note and a small gift - a New 3 mousepad. I had admired the one on his desk and asked about getting one. Apparently it is not an official BMW accessory and was therefore difficult to obtain.
