winter tire and wheel set
by topspin628 on Sun Oct 14 06:42:06 PDT 2007
Hey guys. I hope this is OK to post (if not I will ask the host where and if I can post this). I just pulled the trigger on a new 5 series and have a winter wheel and tire package from my 3 er which I gave to an ebay store to sell on line. They are Blizzaks LM 22s 16s (the wife just wanted them out of the garage) The car was absolutely great in the snow with them. They made a mistake and said they have only one season on them, it was 2 but the tread wear is still fine- you can see the penny test. Anyway, if someone needs a set check out ebay- I think they started the bidding at around 50 bucks. Personally, I prefer the rwd bmw s with snows to the all wheel drive with all seasons. I went for the sport package on my 5 just as I did on the 3 and I will have to buy another wheel and tire package but I just didn't want to give up the goodies on the sport package- suspension, sport auto, ARS. So I will spend a few extra bucks and get great performance year round for a twice a year hassle vs good handling year round with no tire change.
Sport Pack

You have to drive them back to back- sport and non- and then decide what you like. I thought that I didn't want the sport again because of the needed winter tire changes where I live. But after driving both, I liked the way the sport looked and handled so much better that I will put up with a little more expense and time to have the car that will make me happy. I think that ARS alone makes the sport package great and I've heard that the Sport Auto trans is great so that's what I'm going for. I think it best suits the personality of the car. But you have to see what YOU like best. There are no mistakes on owning a 5. You will love it either way.
Thanks Leasing Forum!!

Picked up my 07 530i last Friday. I felt I had gathered enough information from this forum and the price forum to learn about my first lease ever and my first BMW ever. And we just love the car. Thanks to kyfx and Carman and all posters for your help. In addition to getting a fair price, I was able to knock $200 of the acquisition fee, and lower my rates with the MSDs - which the CA never offered until I asked. Did I say we really, really love the car! We traded in a 20 year Acura Legend L which was one major repair from the junkyard waiting to happen, so all the neat creature comforts are pretty cool. We had shopped the NYC and Philly car shows and the one brand we did not shop was BMW, I was convinced I would buy one of the Japanese luxury types. But, the Ultimate Service features and the lease deals made me look closer at BMW and in almost every category, BMW came out ahead. Car: Monica Blue/Beige (lots of people raved over this color) Premium, Cold Weather, NAV, and Logic7 (got all-weather mats, rear bumper reflectors thrown in). Deal: $1,500 over invoice (Southern NJ, Philly ares). 7 total security deposits (1+6). 36mo/10K. No money down. Dec MF with 6 MSDs = .00005. Total monthly payments with NJ 7% tax plus upfront "luxury tax" (.4% for amt. over $45K)= $537.33 Also found out that if you buy extra miles at $0.16/mile and you don't use it all, you get refunds on unused mileage. If I went with 12K, I would not get refunded the 1K which I will not use (based on my last car's mileage usage). So, for me going with the lower 10K and paying at $0.16 makes sense. Thanks again. Joe
faxing is not working...
by dorisel on Wed Jul 06 10:55:17 PDT 2005
I am using the fax method to obtain offers on a 2006 325i (base except for the automatic transmission). I first contacted the dealerships and spoke directly to the sales managers and let them know that the fax was coming. Unfortunately, after sending 12 faxes, I only received 3 bids. The lowest bid I have received is 31,900. I was hoping to get a little closer to invoice. I live in Tennessee, so I faxed the bid requests to TN, MS, AL and AR. Do you think I can get a better offer going into a dealership?

Hey kyfdx!   Please help me on these numbers for an '05 3.0. MSRP $41,200. I would like to say worst case scenario that I can buy for $1500 over invoice therefore purchase price would be $39,240. Would like to have cash at signing (TOTAL) $3000. Negative trade equity of ($4250). What would the payments be? Can you figure out the numbers with $3000 or $4000 cash for me? 3yr/45K lease. I am told that AR lease tax is 10%.   I am building it and I assume that there would be no cost to do so passed on to me.   I apprecaite it!
