??? on Buying Audi A4 AWD Convertible
by sunuptopdown on Thu May 15 15:04:45 PDT 2008
I've been doing research online -- thinking about an Audi A4 AWD or a BMW 3 series convertible. Have been working hard and driving a beat up old hand-me-down car -- and decided it's time to break open the wallet and have a little fun! However, after reading the online discussions, it seems like ALL the Audi and BMW service departments in my area are pretty crumby (service not done right, cars taken for joy rides, dealerships not accountable). What's the deal? If this stuff turns out to be true, it would sure take the joy out of the ride. For those of you driving Audis in the D.C./MD/VA area -- do you have any good stories? (BTW -- my Toyota dealership has not been honest or good to deal with either -- but that's another story). None of the dealerships post their entire new car inventories on their sites. Is there an easy way to check out each dealer's current inventory without calling or visiting each one? Any suggestions about how to not get taken for a ride on a resale? I'd be happy with a car with a few miles on it -- but am afraid of buying someone else's problems. A mechanic told me beware of CPOs -- that the only warranty that the CPO paperwork provides is a guarantee that the car is not new!! Any thoughts?

I test drove the A3 in both sport and premium and in 2.0 and 3.2. I felt that the 2.0 S-Line was the best combination. The A3 3.2 felt heavy compared to the 2.0. I bought an '08 and have had it for 2 weeks. It is a great car. I paid $34K for 2.0T S-Line in Lava Gray w/ black interior, open sky, dual xenon, ipod integration, power driver seat came with S-Line (new for '08). Bought it in N. VA.
2002 A6 4.2

Well I got my 02 Ming Blue 4.2 for $18,500. It has the sport package and 46K on the odometer. I love driving it and the triptronic shifters on the wheel are a blast. My friends 05 S4 is more fun, but I can carry two 6'3' friends in the back and carry on a conversation, so it has its advantages. I have opened up the exhaust and put a K&N filter on the intake, does anyone know where to get a CAI for the 4.2? And does anyone know of a forum for A6 mods. I bought this car to work on and I seem to be having trouble finding people who are doing the same. I am in Richmond VA, is anyone has a clue. Thanks
Re: Audi Auto Care Plan [theresa11]

I've owned two Audis in the past. I loved both cars, especially the TT Roadster, but I wouldn't have owned either of them without the Audi warranty and maintenance plan. Why? As much fun as they were, they spent lots of time in the shop and the mechanics' bill ran in the thousands. Even an oil change cost twice that of a Honda.
