Buying a car from a Audi Car Dealer
Hi jerrynmnk: Can you send me the details of this lease? I'm looking to lease an A4 Quattro Premium with style pkg, convenience pkg, and heated seats in Nashville, TN (I'm assuming an 8.0% tax rate) for 36 months/15k miles. The MSRP on this combination is $38,025. I've agreed upon a price of $35,275 ($2,750 less than MSRP), and that brings my payments to $534/mo. Nowhere near the great deal you got for a more expensive car. Here are my calculations: MSRP = $38,025 MF = 0.00151 Residual = 56% ($21,294) Tax = 8.0% Acq. Fee = $695 Agreed Price = $35,275 Net Cap Cost = $35,970 ($35,275+$695) Depreciation = (Net Cap Cost - Residual) / Term $407.67 = ($35,970 - $21,294)/36 Finance fee = (Net Cap Cost + Residual ) × Money Factor $86.47 = ($35,970 + $21,294) x 0.00151 Pre Tax payment = $407.67 + $86.47 = $494.14 Payment (incl 8% tax) = $533.67 I think my calculations are pretty sound. So my questions are: what was your agreed upon price, what residual value and money factor did you get? What is your tax rate? I feel like the price I've negotiated is pretty good, who knows, maybe I can do better? Thanks for your help.
I recently put a down-payment on a factory-order new 2010 Q5 Premium with only the Audi music interface and no other options. I bought it from Austin for $37,175 plus $125 dealer documentary fee plus $2,527 tax and license, for a total of $39,827. Cash deal, no trade-in. This dealer was fairly easy to deal with. We did everything by fax and e-mail until it was time to pay the down-payment. Lead time on a factory order is 3-4 months. MSRP on the car was $38,475. I had negotiated a deal with Audi in Oklahoma City. But, when I tried to place the order, they did the old trick of adding a $200 fee that I had already told them would be included in their price. I don’t deal with people whose word can’t trusted. I would strongly advise staying away from this dealership. If you deal with them, be prepared to have them add fees to boost your price. I made at least three solid offers to Ft. Worth. They had absolutely no interest in dealing with me and ignored my offers. Several other dealerships said they’d be happy to take my order at MSRP but couldn’t be bothered to discuss any discounts. I contacted every Audi dealership in TX, NM, OK, KS, MO, AR, LA, MS, TN, and AL. New Orleans was the only one (besides Austin) that responded with a reasonable price. Most of my offers were made during December 2009. The final deal was done in mid-January 2010. The three dealerships in my city had no interest in anything except taking an order at MSRP. I even gave the local dealership that gave me a test drive the opportunity to match Austin’s price and they couldn’t be bothered to respond. I get the distinct impression that most Audi dealerships have something going on besides the auto business. They’re certainly not serious about dealing with potential customers. Most of them seemed unhappy that I was bothering them, and only three (Austin, N.O., and OKC) ever responded to repeated offers at $37,000 or above. I don’t know what business they are actually in, but it’s not the auto business. I’m wondering whether the car I ordered will actually be made and delivered despite the fact that I’ve put a refundable down-payment. I’ll post again when I take delivery of the car.
these are invoice items, not MSRP. The advertising varies by region. We do not have an ad fee because we are not in a major market. The prep/inspection fee has been on there as long as I can remember.
The advertising fee and $195 prep fee are legitimate fees from Audi. The rest are documentation or other dealer fees. These are profit so just consider them as such in your offers.
you can have Audi Care added to your lease to include the maintenance. It raises the residual and should only add about $10 to your payment- well worth it.
