Current Supply and Going Prices for Q5

I've called dozens of Audi Dealers in the NY, PA, CT, NH, RI, OH area. There were maybe 3 cars on the ground that met my specs (Deep Sea Blue (Brown or Beige), Premium Plus + Nav, 19" 5-Spoke wheels). I was ok with B&O or more equipment too, airbags, mats, etc... Let me just say that any dealer with that actual car was unwilling to trade to any other dealer and only willing to reduce the price by $750. Considering I would have to fly and drive home, that's hardly a discount. I'm trying to work with my local dealer now to get me that car and keep the money in our local economy and save me a trip. Is anyone else running into the same scenario? Oh, most dealers also wanted to charge me an additional $300 for their bogus "doc" fee that they print right into their contracts.

Hi mck9235, that sounds like a good deal. did you happen to buy an automatic or manual? and did you buy from criswell in annapolis? im looking at the exact same configuration and maybe audicare as well. is it nice to drive one of the few new 2010's? ive only seen one of them so far on the road, and that was in the hamptons. in PA, theyre all 09's. oh, do you have any of the transmission problems others have talked about (assuming you have the auto) or has audi addressed that problem for 2010?

A couple of thoughts on the numbers. I've leased a number of cars and have gotten out of the leases before the end of the term, so I have some first hand experience. I won't claim to know everything, but I think I have a very good working knowledge of the process. On the lease payoff, you have to keep in mind that the "real" payoff for most leases is the residual amount ($24800 for you) PLUS the total of all remaining payments. That is definitely the case for a person simply looking to get out of their lease. It is possible that a dealer can work directly with the leasing company and negotiate a price, but given the state of car leases these days, banks are not looking to take a loss on a lease. From what I've seen, on many leases with good residuals, the banks want the cars back because they will make money on them at auction since the used car market is hot right now. Not true for all cars, but for the right cars, this seems to be the case. The market for well maintained cars like Lexus and Acura is hot. I have seen the auction data (not readily available to the public) and the wholesale market for good quality, well maintained cars has increased over the past year. So the bank may not be eager to simply let you or anyone simply exit the lease for less than residual + remaining payments. That is the number you should be using when calculating the trade-in value of your Lexus. I realize that the dealer may have similar cars sitting on his lot for $32K, but they may not be selling for that. I just sold my 2004 Acura TL after purchasing it after the lease ended. I bought the car from the bank, drove it for 1 year and sold it on my own. Dealers had similar cars on their lots priced at $18K to $20K. They are not selling for that. As it turned out, I was able to sell it for my full price ($15K) with a waiting list of eager buyers I turned away. My car was extremely well maintained, full books/records and the care it had showed. What I am getting at, is if you have a car that is similar and the miles are good, etc., you are probably better off buying the car and then selling it. Keep in mind that at the end of a lease, at least here in Ohio, only you, the leaseholder, can buy the car at the end of the lease and you have to pay the sales taxes, etc. Only a dealer taking your car on trade can avoid the sales tax payment. Sorry if this went in a direction you didn't intend or not interested in, but as others have advised, you may be better off waiting until February, buying the car and then selling it on your own and making the profit yourself. If your car is truly a $32K car, I would do it and use the money on the new Audi at that time.
2010 Audi Q7 TDI
by suvquest22 on Sat Sep 19 18:49:32 PDT 2009
I just purchased a 2010 Q7 TDI black on black with Premium Plus, Tow Package, Cold Weather & Wheel Locks for $55,279 at Inskip Audi in Warwick RI. I think this was a great deal as MSRP was over $58000 and all the other dealerships offered $1,000 - $1500 off. Drove it off the lot today but so far so good. We were leaning towards the BMW X5 Diesel but wanted a little more room. Not a huge fan of the LED lights think they are a bit much with the grill but very happy to see they got rid of the greyish bumpers and went with matching bumpers with chrome. Any questions on the 2010 let me know. And oh yeah when the salesman tells you people are buying them at MSRP please walk away.

I got mine back in January of this year from an auto broker here in southern california. I gave them my 07 infiniti fx35 which I still owed 3 months payment and was over miles and needed new tires so they added $3000 to the price on the audi. I got the 2009 a4 front-wheel drive with automatic trans., premium plus package, sports package, and navigation. I think the MSRP is $38900 Monthly payment $645.50 -39 month lease with 12,000 miles a year -buy out at end of lease is $19800 -down payment $900 (which I did not have at the time and they let me write a check that was post dated for the next week when I got paid! =) but they let me take the car home! Oh and my credit score was a 640 so I think I got a great deal
