Audi Q7 Premium Plus TDI by dennischris on Sun Sep 27 04:41:23 PDT 2009

Help would be appreciated ASAP. Going to the dealer in NJ tomorrow to cut a deal. First I looked at the 3.6 but still have not driven it, then drove the TDI, liked the gas mileage and the torque, but I need to lease her for 36 months for 800 and the dealer told me like 950 - 10K mi per year. I wonder if they can do it? I was told that I could get a 3.6 for that, and then I was told by another dealer that the residual on the TDI was better and it was only a few grand more so i should be able to get the same lease number. How slow is the 3.6? Should I go to the 8 cylinder if need be. Hate to loose the mileage. Also heard the TDI torque dies out after 45 mph - true? THX

Re: Audi TT: Prices Paid & Buying Experiences [codek] by playagirl on Tue Oct 23 01:40:45 PDT 2007

Pacific Audi in Torrance has one for $23,900 dolomite grey pearl. I think theyve had it for quite a while and might want to get it off their hands but i think it has like 36000mi. I was able to talk them down on an 03 roadster to $22000 with 21k mi but i went with a cleaner 04 I managed to get for $23,000. I looked around quite a bit and it was hard to find an immaculate roadster with grey leather (i'm picky-i think grey looks nicer) so if you find one thats clean with low miles then work it. Keep in mind the coupe's back seat is too small to fit an adult but good to throw stuff in. I love my ragtop I can put the top down everyday or night with heated seats and back window wind blocker. You cant lease a used car as far as i know. I agree with you I prefer the older models but im sure in time they will start to look better. I bought mine from audi santa monica. Priced at 28999 talked down to 23000 but I had to use price quotes in the area. Just take your time and be willing to walk away. I went in 3 times before buying. I think it just depends on where you find your used tt, there really arent that many good used ones around. There is one nice used lot on lincoln called Best Auto--the really have all clean cars, but always check the history reporty -the dealers can provide you for free. I think you should be able to talk any dealer down at least a couple grand. Look up the trade in value and go from there. I like the blue coupe at keyes audi. Just depends on if you want automatic or manual. I enjoy the automatic with tiptronic since ive had it with the bumper to bumper traffic driving a stick... good luck

Lease vs. Buy Conundrum by raudiaudi on Thu Jun 07 10:25:44 PDT 2007

I worked out the math on a 2007 a4 Audi. Now my comparison is lease vs. buy numbers. On the buy side, I would be looking at a finance loan of 35k, 60 mos. at %5.89 with a payment of about 675/mo. Where as the 36 mos. lease is 379/month 10k mi/yr. Here is the kicker. The residual value on the car after the 36mo. lease is at $18,796.40 and the balance on loan after 36mos. on the 5yr loan situation is, $15,243.80. A difference of $3,553.00 less on the loan. But now factoring in $300/month MORE I pay on the loan for the 36mos., this is $10,800.00 total. So was it worth paying 10,800.00 over three years to buy down the value of the car by 3,553.00? My answer is NO! I can take the 300/month an put it in savings or investment, thus offsetting the cost of driving a newer car. I don’t care about the 10k mi. restriction b/c I will buy the car at the end of the lease. This is a great option because if you look up the same car with the “planned” amount of mileage after three years which would be a 2004 model right now, these cars are priced at 25k. This is a good argument to buy the car from the dealer after the lease end for 18,796.40, then sell it on the market and make a few grand or drive it some more. I think I am seeing all angles of the deal, please let me know if something is in my blind side. Basically I am avoiding loan interest for the first three years of ownership, which is a very large savings with the cost of borrowing money these days at a rate around 5.89%. That is how the savings is made in the lease rather than buy of this car, and maybe in taxes, but that is a gray area to me right now since I haven’t researched it yet. I know the purchase after lease situation of ownership has always been regarded as a way to pay the most for a car, but I think in this situation it works out better to lease.

Thank you for the reality check everyone. I have contacted the originally dealer to see what they can tell me but I'm thinking this is a no go. Appreciate your help.

Looking at A3 Salvage by maxtre on Wed Feb 22 11:59:22 PST 2006

I am currently looking at a brand new A3 with DSG Sport pkg and Open Sky system. This vehicle is being sold as salvage because along with 5 other audi's the passenger side windows were blown out in a wind storm. There is a little paint damage at the top of the doors. The only thing they had to do was replace the windows. The dealer could not sell the vehicle as new so the insurance company bought them and is selling them as salvage. Everything seems to work perfect when driving this car. They are only asking $20,000 for this vehicle. Would you take a chance on a vehicle like this. Do you think anyone would sell a warranty for a car like this.
