we dont get any extra money for buying your car back. as you mentioned they are sharing the equity with you WHICH NO OTHER MANUFACTURER WOULD DO OR CAN DO BECAUSE THEY NEVER ARE IN EQUITY POSITIONS LIKE THIS. They are helping you out and are actually right in saying they will overpay for your leased car. Reason being that there will be other dealers out there that will be the same car for the residual price instead of $24k and then will sell the car for $24k while your dealer will over pay and prob break even on car.

jwalter, Dealers have so many ways of making money and profit off of selling a new car is not their best source of income. Selling Pre-Owned vehicles make a lot of money as well al taking in trade-ins at very low price. Service make tons of money, so the more cars they sell, the more serivices they do. Some manufacturers also provide trunk money, bonuses, incentives for meeting certain sales volume, advertising fees etc.

I'm looking to lease a new A6 wagon - I have and older 1999 A6 wagon that I want to trade in - runs great still and has only 77K miles on it. The one dealer I went to said he would not take a care that is from 1999. anyone have experience with trade ins such as this and what value can I expect? The blue book for trade in is $4,300 but I doubt I would be able to sell it for that. any experiences/advice? I find is strange that a dealer would not take it in trade. We take in trade anything with wheels, you might not like what we can give you for it, but we will take it. I would suggest calling other dealers. Mico
