I have a 2009 Nissan Altima. I've always kept up with the regular maintenance and each time I've taken it to Nissan for service with no problems. I recently moved to the area and took it to ABC Nissan for a routine oil change. A few days later, my car stopped on the highway. It had overheated. I took it back to ABC Nissan. One of the hoses had come loose. They gave me a big old bill and on top of that said my transmission was leaking oil ("It's normal for Nissan's to have transmission leaks", they said.) and a whole array of other problems total over 3k. First of all, I don't consider a transmission leak "Normal" especially for a 2009 with low miles. Everytime I take my car in for routine service, at any Nissan in the country, they write on the invoice anything they find out of the ordinary. When I took my car for the oil change, they didn't say there was an oil leak. I caught the service guy on a few lies and when I started questioning him, he got nervous. Experience and my gut, tell me they rigged my car. I know this happens regularly in many shops, but I guess I was naive to believe ABC Nissan was a safe choice. When you think about it, I guess it makes sense: bad economy + no car sales = rigged service vehicles. Shops have to make their money one way or another. As for me, ABC Nissan has lost a customer forever.
