My first (and last) experience with Alaska Sales and Service involved routine 60K mile service on my Chevy truck. I dropped off the vehicle with the expectation that the final bill would mirror the estimate of $500. A few hours later my wife recieved a call from the service consultant. He informed her that they found excessive wear of the brakes, requiring an additional $800 to rectify. I had also asked that they investigate an inoperable fan in the rear air conditioning system. The Alaska Sales and Service solution to this problem was estimated at $300. These proposed fixes along with another couple hundred dollars worth of "recommended service" potentially pushed the final bill to over $1800...more than justifying a second opinion. We paid $500 for the original agreed to work and set up an appointment with another mechanic the following day. The second mechanic found my front brakes in "almost new condition" and my rear brakes with "75% wear remaining." He fixed my AC fan by simple replacing the fuse! In the end he charged me $37 for his effort...a savings of over $1260 based on what Alaska Sales and Service was proposing. I will never entrust another vehicle to Alaska Sales and Service again.
