Re: TSX Dealer cash??? [stanz4]

I have had my car for about a week now and have about 360 miles on it. The first week of driving returned about 24mpg on the trip computer but that involved a lot to Chicago suburban rush hour driving and some idling while playing with the car and warming it up on cold mornings. So I figured that was reasonable. It was about 1mpg more than my 96000mile Audi 1.8T would produce. However the mileage is so conditional on the state you drive and how warm the engine is. This morning after the engine was already warm (about half way into my commute) I filled up with gas and reset the MPG on the display. I then had some suburban 4 lane roads to drive on before hitting the freeway. The freeway was initially stop/start but then picked up to a more steady 55mph. I noticed that the average MPG increased and peaked at 40MPG in this steady state driving. Then turning off the freeway, I burned gas on some other minor roads before parking at work. That last bit reduced my average back down to 36MPG. So for the 10 miles I did after I filled her up, I average 36 this morning. That's incredible! It won't stay that high and I would expect it to drop back below 30 to the high 20s on the drive home but I will monitor that and record it in a spreadsheet. It will be interesting to see if it improves with engine break-in.
Price on 08 TSX base
by kjnorman on Wed Apr 09 12:27:10 PDT 2008
I thought I would post the price I just paid for a new 08 non Nav TSX. Mine is Royal Blue Pearl with the Parchment interior. Base $28,190.00 Destination Charge $715.00 Total MRSP $28,905.00 Sales Price (Invoice + DD) $26,630.23 Tax 7.25% $1,930.69 Title & License $80.00 License Transfer $25.00 Advertising Fee $148.00 Doc Fee $150.00 Total Sales Price $28,963.92 Trade-in $7,000.00 Trade-in Tax Adjust $507.50 Finance Charge $21,456.42 Months Financing 48 Interest Rate 0.9% Monthly Payment $455.27 I consider this a deal because my trade was not worth $7000. It was a 96000 mile 8 year old Audi A4 that needed work. KBB was $5200 and auction prices were $4500-$5000. So I would consider the car was sold for more like $25,000. Plus add in 4 years financing and a ridiculously low 0.9% and this is a steal. There's probably not many of the 08 TSX left out there - I think mine was one of the last in that color combination in the Chicagoland area, so happy shopping!

For that money you would probably do better buying new with the incentives as they are. My 08 non Nav was cheaper than you 06 with Nav by the time I take into account the deal I got (see below).
TSX Lease target? Carman?
by kjnorman on Wed Apr 02 12:56:18 PDT 2008
I am trying to work out what I should be aiming for on a new TSX automatic without navigation. The current Acura deal is structured as follows (as far as I can tell): Base $28,190.00 Destination Charge $715.00 Total MRSP $28,905.00 Residual (36 months / 30,000miles) $16,764.90 Capitalized Cost $28,905.00 Capitalized Cost Reduction $1,105.00 Dealer Contribution (to reduce capitalized cost) $1,374.98 Net Capitalized Cost $26,425.02 Depreciation $9,660.12 Security Deposit $0.00 Upfront Acquisition Fee $595.00 Money Factor 0.00071 (1.70%) Lease Payment $268.34 Lease Interest $30.66 Total Monthly Lease $299.00 Due at signing $1,999.00 ($299 + $595 + $1,105) Remaining Payments $10,465.05 Total Payable $12,464.05 I need a plan with perhaps 13,000 per year so would I do better to recalc a residual based on 15000 per year or just to prepay 9000 miles at $0.075 (?) per mile ($675). I have a couple of dealers that state they will sell the car at invoice, however so far they have refused to email me the lease worksheet I have been requesting so that I can do a lease versus buy comparison. My question is this, if they are willing to sell the car to me at invoice ($26,630.23) if I buy it, then if I decide to lease it, should I not be able to also get the dealer contribution that is within the current Acura special leasing deal? I want zero down but I do not mind rolling fees into the first payment (exc tax that should be spread). So, given that our sales tax is 7.5%, dealer is quoting $150 doc fee, and we have %65 title plus $15 license transfer fee then is the following reasonable for a restructured lease deal target? Base $28,190.00 Destination Charge $715.00 Total MRSP $28,905.00 Residual (36 months / 30,000miles) $16,764.00 Sales Price $26,630.23 Tax 7.5% $1,997.27 Capitalized Cost $28,627.50 Capitalized Cost Reduction $0 Dealer Contribution? $1,374.98 Pre-paid Miles -$675.00 Net Capitalized Cost $27,927.52 Depreciation $11,163.52 Money Factor 0.00071 (1.70%) Lease Payment $310.10 Lease Interest $32.23 Total Monthly Lease $342.33 Security Deposit $0.00 Upfront Acquisition Fee $595.00 Title $65.00 License Transfer $15.00 Doc Fee $150.00 Due at signing $1,167.33 Remaining Payments $11,981.40 Total Payable $13,148.72 Is this a reasonable target to go for or is my calculation totally off here? Carman's help greatly appreciated.
TSX 2008 Lease
by mojo1981 on Sat Jan 19 21:51:12 PST 2008
I got the following deal in WI on Acura TSX 2008 base model without navigation. 24 month/12 K year residual at the end of 2 year period is $ 19,057 1 pay lease of 9 K ( includes sales tax, registeration, licence plates, etc) would this be a good deal? What factors do I need to look at if I need to get out of the lease say after 12 months? Thanks

contacted all the dealers in MN and some in WI, 1 in IA and 1 in NE. The best is 44,800 + tax(6.5%) + registration + doc. fee = 48,454. My requirements were specific which might have been a factor. I wanted the vehicle build date to be June 2007 (see a post above which indicates this - also see http://www.iihs.org/ratings/head_restraints/headrestraints.aspx?acura ). MDX built in June now comes with updated headrests to rectify this problem, apparently. I had given only two choices of colors aspen pearl white/parchment or grey/ebony. Anyway, I have proceeded with it and taking delivery tomorrow. Forgot to add something - the price is for a sport+ent MDX
