Re: Seattle MDX Pricing [rdxnmdx]

I tend to differentiate between the purchase and the service. We have been shopping for a Sport ppkg MDX and have been to Bellevue and Seattle. Bellevue was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. The salespersons attitude was atrocious and they were asking for $2200 over invoice. No negotiation. We walked out. Friends at work related similar purchase experiences but claimed that the service department was good. We were at Acura of Seattle and they wanted $46k plus change as their opening bid, including NW Pro Package, dest and prep. Then they dropped to $44.6k for special group pricing for the above. That was still high by $2050 over invoice. I countered with $400 over invoice. They went into the song and dance about "True dealer cost" but ignored my rebuttal of having "True dealer cost" including holdback and incentives. They were pitching it as 3% over TDC. We left and they came down to 2% within 5 minutes on the phone. Today their general manager called and offered 1% over TDC. Roughly $750 over invoice. Still high but not exorbitant. Our DIO package is close to another $1500 so there is more profit in there for them. I was just contacted today by Acura of Lynnwood. They quoted lower prices for the DIOs and wanted to talk about the base price. Trouble is, Bellevue is the closest and they jack up their service prices 10% (or so I heard) if you don't have their "purchase discount". :P I completed a comments form on the web site for their dealership, describing how bad things have been. I addressed it to the dealership owner. I don't know whether anyone will contact us or not. I think you can find one here if you can negotiate and I don't know that running down to Oregon is worth the difference.

Anyone has experience buying '07 MDX Sport w/ entertainment in Seattle area (4 dealers: Lynnwood, Seattle, Bellevue, Fife)? Any input is appreciated. Price is the BIG concern. Less important issue is the post-sale service also to consider. Thanks in advance.

Great news! We actually got our 2006 Carbon Grey TSX w/o NAV this weekend for $27,000 (which included the destination fee, trunk tray, mud guards, door edges, wheel locks). WA Tax & lic, $35 doc fee was extra. We purchased from Acura of Lynnwood. We did 95% of our negotiating via email with their Internet Sales Dept. From my understanding, $27K-flat for this car/color combo is VERY good in the Seattle/PacNW area... so, I'm very happy! This car is sweet!

Happy to help our fellow MDX owners. I was working with Acura of Lynnwood and Acura of Bellevue but go fed up with them (for 3 months). They seem to think they can still command price premiums. I finally ended up with a fine MDX that fit exactly what I wanted from Acura of Portland. To make the deal easy, the dealer drove the car up right into my driveway in Mukilteo (200 miles away). These guys were straight shooters (at least my salesguy but I know I can't mention his name on this forum). He even referenced this site on our first phone conversation whereas the Lynnwood and Bellevue dealerships gave me the same song and dance routines. Watch out about this $500 over invoice deal. I got quotes with invoices that included "prep costs" and other junk that they included in the invoice price. Be clear when they say invoice price, they mean KBB invoice price. If you can get that, that's probably a decent deal for our area. I got a touring MDX with black running boards and the floor mat / wheel lock packagage for $36,300 + tax and tags. You got to time this stuff right as we did the dance for a couple of weeks before we came up with this compromise price. They are sending the paperwork for title to a Seattle DMV office so I can pay my car tax and get a WA state tag. They told me they sent the paperwork today so let's hope they don't mess it up. Acura of Portland ... you got a good plug on this forum for "doing your customer right". Based on this experience, I'm happy to try and steer other customers your way.
MDX Premium pricing in Seattle Area
by roastboar on Tue May 03 20:07:51 PDT 2005
Hi All, I am interested in buying a Base MDX in the WA area. The dealership in Lynnwood would not entertain anything below $1000 over invoice. Acura of Bellevue is quoting $500 over invoice and I am wondering if that's a good price; or if I can go lower. I haven't yet heard a price from Acura of Seattle. All of these are email/phone quotes. Also, should I try my luck in other parts of the state? I don't mind driving a few miles if I can save a few hundred dollars. Input from previous experiences is hugely appreciated. If I do land up buying an MDX, I will post my buying experience to help others. Thanks in advance.
