Closed On A Deal In Seattle
by shaig on Mon Sep 17 17:18:18 PDT 2007
Finally closed on a deal for an '08 Sport in Seattle with Acura Bellevue. After all the aggravation, it turned out that the general manager was informed of our negative experience at his dealership by a friend and was good about taking action immediately to make up for it. This Sunday, we closed on an '08 Sport for $47,730 (includes sport and dest) with: Roof rails Crossbars Bodyside moldings Reverse Sensors Tow Package This is about the best I can find in the Northwest, and by my calculations comes in at $2300 over invoice + dest (which is $42,200). I did check the pricing on an 08 in other areas, and factoring shipping came in under $1100 delta, so it seems okay. What made matters somewhat challenging is that the number of vehicles in sport are low, let alone the color combo Silver/Ebony.
2007 Acura TL w/out Navigation (Bellevue, WA)
by crw1 on Fri Aug 24 17:19:31 PDT 2007
Offered $31,000 for a 2007 TL w/ no NAV based off of Consumer Reports bottom line ($30,509 dealer invoice). Following response is: "Your offer is a good one. However, it is below my true dealer invoice which I cannot do. Washington state dealer Invoice on that car is $30,848 (invoice) + $150 (NW advertising fee) + $200 (PDI/Post Delivery Inspection) + $670 destination) = $31,868. This also doesn't include the Protection Package (splash guards, trunk tray, wheel locks) $384.57 which brings the price to $32,252.57. So where your offer is a good one, I need for it a bit stronger and closer to true Washington State Dealer Invoice." OK, invoice is about $350 more than Consumer Reports. What concerns me is the "NW advertising fee", "Protection Package" and the "PDI". What is all of this and is this something I can just say NO too? I definately feel it is not justifiable from a buyers standpoint. I also read in another discussion that the Protection Package is pure dealer profit. This is our first purchase of a luxury sports sedan so I'm just making sure I've got everything covered. Thanks!
Re: Seattle MDX Pricing [rdxnmdx]

I tend to differentiate between the purchase and the service. We have been shopping for a Sport ppkg MDX and have been to Bellevue and Seattle. Bellevue was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. The salespersons attitude was atrocious and they were asking for $2200 over invoice. No negotiation. We walked out. Friends at work related similar purchase experiences but claimed that the service department was good. We were at Acura of Seattle and they wanted $46k plus change as their opening bid, including NW Pro Package, dest and prep. Then they dropped to $44.6k for special group pricing for the above. That was still high by $2050 over invoice. I countered with $400 over invoice. They went into the song and dance about "True dealer cost" but ignored my rebuttal of having "True dealer cost" including holdback and incentives. They were pitching it as 3% over TDC. We left and they came down to 2% within 5 minutes on the phone. Today their general manager called and offered 1% over TDC. Roughly $750 over invoice. Still high but not exorbitant. Our DIO package is close to another $1500 so there is more profit in there for them. I was just contacted today by Acura of Lynnwood. They quoted lower prices for the DIOs and wanted to talk about the base price. Trouble is, Bellevue is the closest and they jack up their service prices 10% (or so I heard) if you don't have their "purchase discount". :P I completed a comments form on the web site for their dealership, describing how bad things have been. I addressed it to the dealership owner. I don't know whether anyone will contact us or not. I think you can find one here if you can negotiate and I don't know that running down to Oregon is worth the difference.
Re: MDX Tech in washington [andy300m]

I am shopping for an MDX/Sport. We had the worst car buying experience in Acura of Bellevue. My wife and I came in, I identified her as the customer, and the associate acted as if he was doing us a favor. He walked us to the parking lot, didn't hold the door, stood in front of the car and said "There." Things went rapidly downhill. By the time I decided to try and see whether the price was decent, in spite of the lousy attitude he had, he came back with $2200 over invoice firm. My wife simply said "Let's go to Lexus", and we walked back through the showroom and out without anyone stopping us. The kicker, I tried to see what the Costco buying program might be able to get and they referred me to...Acura of Bellevue. Of course we never got a response to the email I sent the sales manager describing the poor experience we had. I emailed Costco and told them as well. This weekend, friends of ours told us that they only service their car in Bellevue, they never buy there. Corworkers confirmed that the sales staff and sales management is mostly miss, with an occasional hit. We have an appointment to see Acura of Seattle Wednesday and hopefully purchase the vehicle. At least on the phone, they were pleasant. Hoping to get a Sport package at $800 over invoice with some DIO on top of that.

MDX 2007 Tech+Entertainment from Acura of Seattle
by negotiator on Sun May 20 19:48:56 PDT 2007
Just bought my Silver/Ebony MDX 2007 yesterday with Tech + Entertainment and Protection Package (costs about $450 MSRP and apparently added by all North West dealers to sweeten their profits) from Acura of Seattle for $43,100.00 (price exclusive of tax and licensing). Very clean & courteous dealership and friendly associates but I hated that they (and all dealerships in the area) are imposing the Protection Package on you. Plus, there seems to be no documentation on what the protection package has and one only has to go by what the dealers guys tell you. We tried negotiating with the Bellevue dealership but they were cocky and uninterested. Wanted us to share my SSN and DOB before they would even give us a final number. Baddddddd experience... Has anyone else bought from a NW dealer? What was the price?
