Re: '07 Sport in SoCal [sd_dad]

As a follow-up, I'm in San Diego but thought I'd get started with an internet offer from L.A. (Planet Acura in Downey -- popular among this forum). Here's what I got: "YOUR PRICE ON THE SPORT MODEL IS $41,800+FEES. YOUR PRICE ON THE SPORT ENTERTAINMENT IS $43,500+FEES. LET ME KNOW HOW I CAN HELP." Seems like a decent starting point. This is unrelated but funny. I went to a dealer in San Diego yesterday, and got a follow-up call from some a phone-monkey today. I told him I was interested in the '07 but had been given a brochure for the '08, which I just realized. He said not to worry, as the only difference between the two is that the '08 is a foot shorter in length.
Best price on MDX Touring in San Diego or Orange County, CA. ?

Has anyone bought one of these from the San Diego or Orange County area ? If so, how much did you pay ? I requested quotes from all the local dealerships in SD. But their prices are either too high ($36K+) or they are not very responsive. Makes me think that they're not interested in clearing out their inventories. I'm willing to drive up to Orange County if I can find a straight forward, no nonsense dealer who would give me a simple quote without all the B.S. Thanx for the replies.
Re: Price below invoice? [stanwelks]

stanwelks, Which dealers are giving you invoice for the TSX? Are they in OC? Down in SD I can only get about $400 over invoice - no one seems to budge or I don't know how to haggle. I've gone to two different dealers telling them my price ($26,200) and neither would work with me. Thanks

Alarm system? It already comes with a "Theft-deterrent system with electronic immobilizer". How did he push that one? "Sir, now that you've purchased this 'luxury car', I should tell you that the alarm system is woefully inadequate." The name of the alarm he was peddling wasn't by chance "The Club", was it? Or was he trying to push a recovery system like Lo-Jack?

LocalSD - I can uderstand how anxious you may feel. I felt the same as it was my 1st "new car" as well and to be honest my wife will be driving it more. Funny how there are a lot of SD buyers/posters - if it wasn't for this forum would have paid >2k more. Agree with delmar1 - cast a wide net and see what happens. If you haven't noticed yet he's an Acura guru. I emailed Keyes and Santa Monica Acura shortly after I read posts from other that they purchased for about $31,500 (auto w/ navi). In fact, some people paid even less. The 1st email was from SMA stating "We can sell it for $31,499" and Keyes email was "We have 3 in stock when do you want to pick it up." I waited 2 days and poof they were gone - black on black is a popular combo I guess. Good luck again. We love our car and with its excellent resell value take comfort in knowing that you are making a good investment. Check out the posts from about #4710 - #4740 for other SoCal experiences. The internet route is a great way to go and saved me about $1000 below invoice. I've kept an eye on this board b/c I'm curious to see what kind of deals people are getting on '06's. Any buyers yet?

delmar1, thanks for the advice. Were you able to negotiate with SMA from their initial quote? If so, do you remember where they started with you? To be honest, the guy that I have dealt with over the Internet has seemed questionably interested in my business. I am not sure if it is because he is new and unaware of how to treat customers or if this is a tact that helps to ensure a higher price for them. Are there other dealers that you would recommend in SMA's area so I could, worse case, have other options while up there? Would you suggest contacting them by Internet first to avoid their traditional sales process? Thanks again. Although I have several neighbors and friends that have this car, they were all purchsed in SD with little research on price. I really appreicate the help you and others on this forum have provided. Have a nice night and I hope to read a response from you tomorrow. Kurt
