Acura buying in PA: by depcs on Sun Aug 07 07:29:25 PDT 2005; I have been watching this message board for a few weeks and would like to say thanks for all of the advice. My buying experience was easy because of it. I decided on a TL w/o navi in black with the camel interior. I emailed eleven dealers within a two hour drive from where I live in Harrisburg, PA, including the Washington/Baltimore area. Most got back to me within a day with a price which ranged from 31,953 to 30, 900. I then shopped the lowest price around by email and got an offer of 30, 700 from Jones Acura in Lancaster PA (about an hour from me). Other dealers offered to match my best offer. My local dealer, Bobby Rahal in Mechanicsburg had one of the higher initial offers but I went back to the salesperson who had helped us with the test drive and with very little discussion they matched the price. I ended up adding wheel locks, splash guards, floor mats and the trunk liner for an additional $193 bringing my total price to 30,893 before TTL.. I highly recommend contacting the internet sales people of several dealerships and playing them against each other. This has been by far my best car purchase experience. Now I just have to wait for the car to be delivered.

Knowing what many of you paid helped a lot in my negotiations. I started by getting internet quotes from 8 area dealers but after phone, email and in-person contacts, the lowest price I could get was $25,600. I then expanded my search to 14 additional dealers in PA, NJ, DE, MD, & VA. The best prices came from Bobby Rahal Acura in Mechanicsburg, PA and Metro Acura in Philadelphia. I was just about to buy from one of them when a local dealer agreed to match their price. Yesterday I bought the carbon grey automatic without navi for $25,100 at Tischer Acura in Laurel, MD. The documentation fee was $99 and they included wheel locks and the trunk tray. (Please patronize the above Pennsylvania dealers to assuage my guilt--I wanted to buy from them because they were so helpful but Laurel is so much closer than Philly.) The negotiations with dealers in this area were difficult. I mentioned to more than one salesman the fact that I had read on this forum what actual people were paying for this car. The response of the dealers was overwhelmingly negative. They told me that the braggarts on this site are liars and impostors. I was lectured a few times about the laws of supply and demand and told that "holdback is the dealer's money and therefore not [the salesman's] to negotiate". In the end, the only way I was able to crack the local market was to get offers from outside the area and show them that to save hundreds of dollars I was prepared to pay the small $24.50 bus fare to Philadelphia. I hope this adds to the general store of knowledge. Good luck to those still in the hunt.

price paid and first impressions: by kenyon on Wed Feb 25 06:37:16 PST 2004; Bought a black non-nav with parchment interior for $25450 from Jones Acura in Honda. Negotiation consisted of one three minute call to the internet manager. The Mechanicsburg dealer, closer to me, suggested he might sell faor $25800 if I committed instantly. Their earlier price was about $26,200. The Reading dealer, by internet, was $50 over Jones. The Jones people were a pleasure to deal with. Only complaints (love the car): the heated seats doen't seem powerful compared to others I have been in and the radio does a poor job picking up stations. Looks, handling, gas mileage, fit and finish and value for the dollar are all first rate.
