An Example For the purchase of a $30,000 vehicle with 7% state sales tax, the taxpayer would receive a $2,100 tax deduction. The actual tax savings depends on the amount of sales and excise tax paid in your state and on your tax rate. Ask your dealer about your state's tax rates. Keep in mind that its deduction not credit,,, So if you are 15% tax bracket your savings are 0.15*2100=$315... Thats just 300 on a 30K car...Is your time worth that much? Also if you are living in a high state tax states like CA, NY, NJ and are making >80K and have a mortgage deduction then probability is VERY HIGH that you are subject to AMT...then no deduction for you!!! I am not a CPA...but devil is in the details I believe tax deduction should not be considered at all in a anything that is an expense. For me if it is an expense it driven by two things 1) Passion and/or 2) Value/Utility This is what I would consider 1) Do you like the looks of 2010 or 2009 (Front grill is different) 2) New transmission for Acura. Are you OK with it? Last time when honda/acura went from 4 speed to 5 speed it was a disaster. Transmission failing at 65K to 70K miles. Go read threads on MDX/Accord/TL board regarding 2000/2001 transmission 3) How badly you need car now 4) Time value of money Vs. Timing of car buying

OK, I got talked into a lease. Here it is 2010 RDX AWD Tech Pack 36 months 15k miles First payment and license and doc fees paid ~$900 is all I gave them $640/month I was going to trade in my 2006 Suburu Forester for $12,000. With the lease they wrote me a check for $12,000. Now that I liked. Putting into a good mutual fund for 3 years and then I'll know how good this deal was.
2010 Base w/ Tech
by toddinsocal on Wed Nov 04 00:20:40 PST 2009
I bought a 2010 Grigio Metallic/Taupe Base w/ Tech on 10/31. I wanted the wheel locks and splash guards, so the dealer added the dealer pak w/ those plus trunk tray (MSRP on that package is 444). Price I paid was $35.7k plus TTL, total just over 39k out the door. I did get quotes for the same thing in an '09 at just under 34k, so I'm OK with the deal.
Hoping I did the right thing?

Just found this forum. My husband and I have been in the market for a new mid-sized SUV. Previously had a Volvo XC70 wagon. Have LOVED my Volvo, and always thought I would trade it for a new XC90, but after comparing apples to apples felt the Volvo was outdated and we opted for a new 2009 MDX (base plus a few options). We love the fact that the MDX looks more compact and sporty although there is alot of interior room. Also like the fact that the third row seat is a complete seat and not a "jump" seat like in the Volvo. Totally unuseable for my 14 year old, my 10 year old maybe. Anyways, we just made a deal with a local dealer for a 2009 MDX base including Acura's protection package (all weather mats for car and trunk, wheel locks) and roof rails/body side molding. We paid $36,598 +TTL. That includes the $2000 incentive and we then financed with 2.9%. I am bothered now because I see all these other buyers getting the $34,099+TTL from a dealer in VA. This deal I got was the best of 3. 2 were pretty close, but our local dealer offered us a better price on our trade AND doc. fees were $400 cheaper than the other dealer. Did I do OK?? I pick it up tomorrow at noon. Having a little buyers remorse!!
Re: I was quoted $300 off MSRP for a 2010 FWD RDX. LOL [renovar]

Bought my 2010 AWD with Tech RDX today! I drove it first at the dealer and then left because the salesman had another customer and didn't notice me leave. He called me at work and and asked if I liked the car. I said it was very nice. I told him there was a dealer on the south side of Chicago selling it for $35,550, could he match that price (doesn't hurt to ask). He said hold on he would check the price. Came back in a minute and said that is their cost on the vehicle. I said yea and where does that leave us? Can we make $500 on the car? I said I'll give you $36,000 and tax. He thought about it for 30 seconds and said, OK! I went back the next day and bought one coming off the truck, Pearl White and Taupe, for $36,000 and about $200 license, doc, and 7% tax OTD! I couldn't believe it. Love my new RDX!
