Good Deal or Not ??
by kts62 on Tue Aug 21 17:48:03 PDT 2007
I had a deal on 2007 TSX, Auto, No Nav. @ $26,400 (+Tax, Tags, Etc) but the dealer couldn't find the color combination I wanted (Silver-Quartz if anyone cares). So, I Offered $26,500 for 2008 TSX (+Tax, Tags, etc) and after some tense discussions, we ended @ $26,800. I love it but am not sure I got a good deal. Details 2008 TSX Automatic w/o Nav ($26,800) Only extras on the car are the Splash Guards, Floor/Trunk Mats & Wheel Locks The "+ TTL" includes Sales Tax (5%), & about $129 for "Doc & Admin" fees which covered: MA State Inspection ($29), RMV Reg ($56), MA Title, Certification of Insurance & a tank of gas & 2 free Oil Changes. I negotiated on a cash deal but took the 2.9% Fin for 36 mo. at the end of the process. It's simple interest with no pre-payment penalty - A No Brainer since I get 5.05% APY @ E-Trade. Any Comparative deals on early '08's out there ? Oh - I'm in Metrro West Boston.

Oh man I thought I was missing a detail when I posted this! for the 36month 15k/yr the residual is 59% NY state sales tax is 8.625 on a receipt i had laying around, for some reason i thought it was 8.75, close enough. I didn't have to negotiate anything on the MF. The salesman was reading right from acura's book thingy. I came home and looked here before buying to see what people were getting on a MF and the lowest I saw was .0016x from someone on the west coast. So I figured that .00127 is about as low as I've seen poking around these boards(hair over 3.0%) and that there wasn't a dealer markup, and even if there was it was still a killer rate. IIRC the TL had identical MF's... It was 34k msrp, 33k neg cap cost and 423 paying first months, fees and tax up front (roughly 460ish with NY tax rolled into the payment) I forgot the RV but it was 57 or 59 IIRC
Bought My Beautiful TL Tonight

I want to thank ALL of you for being such a help! Here is exactly what went down: I searched the forums: Found I could get an 06 TL with Nav and a sticker price of $35,940 - many here were offering $30,800. That is what I offered both floor managers at Keyes in Van Nuys, CA and 101 West in Calabasas, CA - Both said they would throw in mud guards and wheel locks. However, the floor manager at 101 West (I can't print her name but its the same as the actress Ms. Zelwegger), is so incredibly cool and straightforward (see my notes in post #6538) and used Mechanics bank which had a better MF rate. Here is how it broke down: 36 months, 12,000 miles per year COST: $35,940 MY OFFER: $30,800 BANK ACQ FEE: $795.00 CAP COST REDUCTION: $31,595 WHAT I LAID OUT: $902.12*** (see note) TAX ON CAP COST REDUCTION: $74.42 FIRST MONTHLY PAYMENT: $425.00 TITLE & REG FEE: $256.00 CAL TIRE FEE: $8.75 DOC FEE: $48.71 TOTAL I LAID OUT: $1,715.00**** (see note) Residual was 56% MF was .00195 My lease payment is $425.00 including tax ***(note) the lease payment with ZERO down was origionally $453.86 but I wanted a nice round number so I added 902.12 (plus the tax) to bring it DOWN to $425.00 So if you don't want to put ANYTHING down, just REDUCE my 902.12+74.42 ($976.54) and you're actual DRIVE OFF would be less than $800.00 Oh, almost forgot. I was a pit peeved that the car had 221 miles on it and was gonna walk (okay, not really, but they didn't know that), so they threw in a set of body side moldings (normally $245.40 installed, $135.00 on eBay). I'm happy. Now you have some ammunition. Just print this and show them exactly what CAN be done. I had ZERO hassles. I will be happy to answer ANY of your questions. Matt
05 TL in Columbus, OH
by jdubble22 on Tue Sep 13 19:33:23 PDT 2005
After the Labor Day weekend, I purchased an 05 TL w/o Nav (Red w/ Camel interior) from Mathews Acura (located technically in Marion, OH, which is 30 minutes north of Columbus). Their internet price was $31,000 (which included destination fee and the protection pkg - tire locks, mud guards and trunk tray). Taxes were an additional 6.5% and license fees were an additional $25.00. Lindsay Acura (located in Columbus) was offering $31,300 for the same car. Acura of Dayton (60 miles west of Columbus) offered a Blue TL w/o Nav for $30,650 (including the protection package). Ultimately, I went with Mathews Acura because they aggressively priced their TL on the initial offer. Other dealers offered to "match" Mathews Acura's price but I wanted to financially reward the aggressive pricing dealer. They seemed to deal with me with integrity. So I reciprocated with integrity and gave them the business and rejected all other offers. Good luck to anyone that is looking to purchase a TL in the Columbus, OH area.
MDX Base w/ roof rack: $32k [Socal]
by esteve on Tue Aug 30 09:52:10 PDT 2005
So after a week's worth of obtaining quotes and having dealers scan their dwindling inventory, I finally got an MDX from Power Acura in Torrance. They pricematched Santa Monica Acura of a base model, with roof rack installed, for $32k before TTR. [Power was willing to PM SM Acura's TOURING, no nav or res, price of $33.7k but no one had our color]. I figured with the roof rack installed [dealer has it at around $300 for parts/labor], I got in for $2000 below invoice so I'm happy :) OTD was $34,674 factoring in a 7.25% sales tax. Only caveat is they didn't have time to install the roof rack so it was on the "Work Order" form...the nice part is that I didn't have to REMIND them that was included in the original quote but I do have to go back later on to get it installed. Car notes: +MDX rides like a sedan, not a truck: a BIG plus for my wife and I as we used to own a 2000 Pathfinder [truck-based] and that sucker seemed to want to tip over at every turn. +With split open and horrendous rush hour traffic in about 45 miles of driving, the trip computer avg'd 22.1 MPG. +XM Radio...I now see why people rave about it: lots of selection and most are ad-free but personally, I won't be subscribing after the trial ends. +Excellent power delivery - so easy to pass [well, a bit biased as our prior cars were/are 4-cylinder Hondas save for the Pathfinder] +Comfy seats +Disappointed with the separate key and remote fob: current Accord's keyfob is integrated but very minor complaint +Steering wheel controls are unlit +Moonroof controls are where they SHOULD be: at the top! [Honda owners: rejoice] +Back to the radio, XM sound quality, to me, is halfway tween AM and FM. I ended up listening to my iPod via the FM transmitter...too bad there's no direct aux input. +Auto on/off lights, side mirror heaters, LED illumination: never had em so I'm living the dream right now. Speaking of LED illumination, if it's at full brightness, it almost got distracting: I wanted to stare at the gauges instead of at the roads. Socal dealer notes: POWER ACURA: Salesguy I dealt with was good - always e/v-mailed me back [sometimes a few times a day] and no games or last minute add-ons were played at the dealership. F&I guy offered me the usual stuff but after declining, he quickly moved on. No need to bring in a printout of SM Acura's prices for proof. Oh, he took down my credit card number for a $500 deposit after he located my MDX from another dealer for but ended up never charging the card :) KEYES ACURA: Willing to PM. Upfront about inventory [didn't have the color combo/model we wanted] but they don't do dealer trades. Guy was professional and always contacted me back if I had questions. Keyes was one day late than Power getting back to me: if Power couldn't get it, I was willing to go here as an MDX, w/ our specs, was inbound w/i a few days. Would've been a LOT closer but oh well. SANTA MONICA ACURA: Best initial pricing BUT when it came time to do the deal, they ignored my emails about faxing me the sales contract and also said it'd take between "a few hours to a week" to get my MDX: I had to go in the office to start of the process. They ignored me so I did the same. ACURA 101 WEST: Guy gave me a higher pricing but was only willing to PM if I brought in the written quote to his office. Didn't give me specifics about having it in stock as well. CERRITOS ACURA: She was also higher but ultimately, the dealer wouldn't PM. VALENCIA ACURA: I'm still waiting for any sign of life...never responded back to the intial request. How I did it: started off with using Edmunds dealer locator thingy and for Acura dealers not listed, I emailed them directly from their own websites found on Acura.com. Power Acura accepts up to $5k on a credit card ["free" points!] and you can finance the rest though I cut a check for the balance: they run a credit check on you and basically state if the check doesn't go through, it'll convert to an auto loan: made sure the F&I guy checkmarked the box that stated, "NO INTEREST OWED IN PAID IN FULL". If you have any questions, ask away!

Socalmikel so you didnt purchase the wheel locks or splash guards and truck tray which come with the acura protection package. Is there any more info you can give me on the acura 101 west dealer i want to go this weekend and finalize a deal and hopefully get it as low as you did. Is there by any chance I could say that a friend i know (you :) ) got a TL with navi for 31600. any advice will help. oh and btw is the protection package REALLY necessary?
