Re: Solid deal in NC [ncmdx]

ncmdx: Got it from Performance in Chapel Hill. They were a little tough to deal with honestly initially, but I pointed to the salient facts (high inventory, decrease in 10-13% in sales compared to last year, gas prices, etc) and gave them a low offer on purpose initially to try to get as close to invoice - rebate as possible to meet in the middle so to speak. From the internet quotes, Stevenson in Wilmington is useless (gave me an offer that was $1000 off MSRP! what a laugh), but Crown in Greensboro ($5500 off MSRP was their initial offer) and Flow in Winston-Salem ($5300 off) had some very competitive internet offers without even haggling, but they were ~2-3 hours round trip away so less convenient. Leith in Raleigh has the most inventory but their quotes were a little higher. Didn't bother with Leith in Fayetteville or Apple Tree in Fletcher as they were farther away and smaller in size.

Thuidoi, $32,000 Out The Door seems a very good price. What kind of financing are they offering at Performance Acura, Chapel Hill. I live in Winston Salem, NC and don't mind driving down to Chapel Hill for a similar deal if they are offering a low financing.
NC/SC Dealer experiences...help?!?!?!?!
by thickcommish1 on Sat Nov 24 09:35:31 PST 2007
I had a 2005 MDX touring, loved it, traded it and now miss it. I bought something else strictly because of the pricepoint and I heard that dealers are not coming off MSRP. Now unhappy with my current vehicle I have been researching the MDX again to see if I could financially swing it. After reading the boards I have seen folks getting deals below invoice (not often) and some over MSRP. I have requested quotes from dealers and they are mainly quoting at MSRP still around my area, ie Charlotte (Hendrick Acura), Greensboro (Crown Acura), and Winston Salem (Flow Acura). I experienced this in 05 and had to go to Greenville SC for the deal at Bradshaw Acura which at the time met me in the middle if I would take their available color of Sage/Quartz. I intend on requesting quotes again but want to have reasonable expectations. I do not mind driving for a deal but also have a trade in which I do not know if it will mess anything up or not. Any help or advise anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated!

I also live in NC and have been looking at the MDX. They have a lot of them on the lots in Greensboro and Winston Salem. The dealer in Cary, NC called me today saying that they have clearance priced all of their 2007 MDX's and are offering 2.9% financing. Good Luck!
Re: Achievable? '07 TL base w/ nav in Mass. [laguy50]

I'm in the Piedmont of NC, not far from the Charlotte area. I got the car from Flow Acura in Winston Salem. The dealership always has to make something on a car. Right now, apart from any other factory to dealer incentives, the dealership receives a 3% of MSRP "holdback fee" from the factory for every unit sold. This is in addition to any profit they may make over the invoice fee. 3% equates to over $1,000. Usually, dealers won't give up anything from their holdback but a few here have been able to dip into that a little. Both Honda and Acura have the 3% holdback fee on all their vehicles so the Type S would be included. The price I was willing to pay included the invoice, doc fees, and the TTL. That gave the dealership a fair profit and I got what I feel was a fair deal. Ultimately, I think I paid $9 over invoice before TTL and doc fee. Others on this site have even done a little better than me. As for the AcuraCare warranties, they are transferrable for a $50 fee. Otherwise, if you sell the vehicle, get in an accident, get rid of it for any reason, or just wish to cancel it, you are entitled to get back the pro-rated balance ...whenever you wish to cancel. I believe you get an initial grace period where you can get 100% back from the warranty should you change your mind after the initial purchase but I'm not sure how long that might be. The cost for the 8 year/120k mile warranty was raised $100 in January to $1,415. They make these periodic adjustments once or twice a year from what I understand. The Finance manager doesn't want you to know that this price is negotiable and they gave me a hard time until they knew I wouldn't budge. $100 profit is better than no profit and it's not like these things are sitting on shelves and taking up inventory space.
Re: out the door price for TL w/ navi [chkntony]
by vicnation on Fri Jan 26 11:46:28 PST 2007
I got my TL with nav for $35,104 out the door from Flow Acura in Winston Salem, NC. The base price was $33,662. Just ask your dealer if he can match $35,100 out the door price and see if they will do it. That price will give them room for TTL and doc fee. They will still make $1,103 from holdback fees above the doc fee and any hidden incentives. You will get a good deal and the dealership will make a little. As far as negotiations, I wouldn't. Just call a few dealerships and ask them if they will take your out-the-door price. Negotiations are really a waste of time because the salesperson has many different ways to confuse you. The more you throw around dollar amounts, the more confused you will become. They want you to throw numbers around because it gives them the upperhand. Don't negotiate. Just decide on what you are willing to pay and ask if they will take it. If they don't, someone else will. When you make your decision, stick with it. If the salesperson sees you beginning to buckle, they will press hard on the price.
