Good deals in NY?
by recca on Sun Jun 22 08:07:21 PDT 2008
Hi all. I'm planning to buy a 2008 MDX but don't have much experience dealing with the car dealers. If you have any pricing, advice or recommendations on the Acura dealers in NY, please let me know. Any information will be appreciated. Also, I want test drive the MDX, do they require any deposit to do so?

This sounds like a decent deal, ravkingnyc. To get a better understanding, what's the MSRP, the purchase price of the car, and miles allowance? If you can also post the residual and the money factor for the lease, it would be great. Contrary to some other comments, you did the right thing by not having a cap cost reduction. If you total the car, you'll never see your cap cost reduction money back. For the same reason, however, it's better to roll taxes into the payment instead of paying them upfront.

I believe tax aply on destination as well but could vary by state. Destination charge does not change for vehicles on lot since it's tied to the sticker.

Vehicle price looks good. Invoice minus dealer cash is $38403. He's giving you a part of his holdback. I'm assuming this is not a demo. You may want to check out ebay for cargo net and cargo tray. I think those two accessories are DIY.

My purchase is in NY. My OTD is $42,361.85 but that's with a NY registration and sales tax. If you are in SF, it's gong to be different. Invoice for Tech with PTG is $40902. There's should be $2000 dealer cash expiring end of June (at least in NY there's one). You should forget about vehicle price and focus on the getting detailed OTD quotes from several dealers in your area because vehicle price doesn't really mean anything. One dealer can give you $xxx below invoice but nail you on dealer fees while another will charge a higher vehicle price without any other fees other than sales tax and DMV. I had quotes from six dealers and they all charged different registration fees and sales tax; some dealers charge sales tax on their doc fee while others don't have even have doc fees.
