Bought a TL non Nav in Albuquerque on 8/29

Anthricite with ebony interior. Price was $30,600 with incentive included. OTD was 31,823 (3% NM tax included). Priced the vehicle in Arizona and Texas via the net and the savings was not worth making a road trip. Only one Acura dealer in NM and the closest competition is about 500 miles. I consider myself geographically challenged. I had a 2001 TL (mint) and they offered $11,800 on a trade. I said thanks but no thanks and sold it privately for $13,700. Actually had the car for a hair under 6 years and got almost 50% of original price ($27,800). Al in all,I'm happy. Happy motoring.

I forgot to mention the horsepower difference in my 05/06 TSX comparisons. I haven’t seen any dyno test of an 05 TSX 5AT compared to an 06 TSX 5AT. From what I’ve have read, it would take a cold air intake, headers/exhaust, and possibly a Hondata chip reflash on a 05 TSX to get to the stock horse power of an 06 TSX. You could spend $1-2K just trying to keep up with a stock 06 TSX. With the new standards of rating horsepower for 06 Acura’s, I’ve seen where the 04/05 TSX would be rated at 192-195 horsepower compared to 205 for the 06 TSX. I think the 06 TSX is worth the 2K extra money. I’m willing to bet there will not be a lot changes for the 07 models, except for a Type-S model (because to the redesign for 08). That is my 2cents.

I purchased an 06 TSX w/ Navi and it was in the dealership for two days for an OEM body kit w/ spoiler. They loaned me a 05 TSX non Navi for a few days. I was amazed in the difference in the two cars: - a noticeable quicker acceleration (larger intakes/exhausts) - memory seats are must have, if you have multiple drivers - much better information center between the speedo/tach - driver seat has a little more travel (I’m 6’3” and 300 lbs, I need every inch) - wider side bolsters on driver seat (for us big boys) - thicker steering wheel for a sportier feel - the HID headlights were brighter and illuminated further and wider - Bluetooth, once you get it, you can’t live without it - I like the new exterior styling, especially not having the chrome trim on the hood from the front grille (replace with a Mugen aftermarket grille next year) - fog lights will save you $450 compared to having a dealer install them on a 05 TSX. - exterior color, the 05 carbon gray was more skewed on the black side, the 06 carbon gray is skewed toward metallic dark blue (I think it gives the TSX a higher end luxury look to the car). I would take the time and test drive identical 05 and 06 TSX. If you have the time and willing to travel, you can find a new/used 06 TSX close to the 05 prices.
New TSX w/ Navi
by mrgold35 on Mon May 08 14:19:46 PDT 2006
I purchased a 2006 TSX for $31,063+TTL in New Mexico. This included: - Carbon Grey w/ Quartz - Auto Trans - Navi system - pin striping - Rear wing spoiler - Full OEM aero kit (front/rear/side) - Metal trim kit - Sunroof visor - mud guards (had to take them off because of the aero kit) I found the cargo net and trunk tray online for $100 + shipping. I added ASA AR1 17inch chrome wheels from the tire rack for about $1200. I’m going to tint the windows, add a 3M invisible bra, and install the door edge guards. This is the car my wife wanted and she let me “pimp her ride”.
Anyone in NM?

Is there anyone in this area who has bought from Montano Acura in Albuquerque? I'm looking at possibly getting an '06 TL from there and would appreciate any/all feedback you might have. Thanks!

Arizonaroads, Funny, I just had the same experience as you. I'm also in Phoenix, and was looking for a silver or anthracite/ebony or quartz 05, 6 speed Navi w/o HPT. Bell Acura actually gave me a quote of 33k + TTL for the car, and I went to try and buy it, and then they did a bait and switch for a 6 speed white/camel Nav that they had on the lot for 33k. I almost bought that car, however it ended up to be a color choice. Since then, I've contacted the fleet/internet manager @ Scottsdale Acura and got a firm quote of 34.1K or so. Tempe Acura wanted just about the same. I contacted through the internet a dealer in Albuquerque NM, and they responded, but laughed @ offers for 33-33.5k. Tempe Acura had a silver/ebony TL 6sp w/Nav on their lot, but sold it for 34.5k     I then got a car buying advisor to look for the TL, and the best he came up with (with his buying power) was a little over 34k plus 500 for his fees. He also told me that Bell Acura is famous for lowballing and bait/switch tactics.   Bottom line: the TL in Phoenix is hard to come by for < 1000 over invoice.. the manual version is nonexistant. I'm thinking of waiting until the new '05 G35 6speeds come out, and will play around w/the dealers w/that car. I'm sure that it will command a price near MSRP, though :(
