Buying a car from a Acura Car Dealer
Hey r000 can you give me a ballpark figure for what portion of that $530 monthly the NJ dealers gave you was for your taxes? I am in NC and our taxes are much lower, only 3%. Figure I can just take a third of your tax figure, 3% versus your close to 9%, to figure out my payment. Also do you mind telling me what dealers gave you those quotes? If you would rather PM me than post that is fine. I have no problem flying one way to newark to pick up a car or use it against the dealers around NC to try and get them down. I am thinking I should be able to get $500 per month with just start up costs for a base MDX with 12K per year with the numbers I worked up and what you mention beeing quoted. Thanks in advance for the reply.
Lookup DC, MD, DE, s. PA, & s. NJ dealers at www.acura.com. Then search this forum (and the TSX board) for the dealers' names. If anyone's already posted any info, you'll find it quickly & easily. Since you're willing to drive a bit, I've seen some good deals discussed by some of the Philly/south-Jersey dealers. I've bought two Acura's in Dover, DE w/ good results. It's been several years since the last one, so I don't know if they're still competitively priced. (For what it's worth, I'm still very pleased w/ their service dept.) Then again, if you're REALLY willing to drive a long way, I've seen a lot of good prices from some midwest and new england dealers. Look through this forum - you'll see. Also, if you drive aggressively enough to be bothered by the torque steer, you may prefer the TSX. It has a better hp/chassis balance. The TL 6-spd seems like a good candidate for RL's SH-AWD. As far as reliability, check consumer reports and the problems/solutions forums here at edmunds.com. IMO, either one would be a reliable car.
Well, the Montclaire Acura near Newark, NJ is certainly in the metro area and offers as high as $2,000 off MSRP.
