Begining Negotiating for Acura TL - Questions
by zoomer602 on Fri Mar 21 05:19:38 PDT 2008
Great forum - on for the first time today. A few questions: We test drove a TL last weekend and fell in love. The only hesitation is that the model look will change a lot this summer as the 2009 is reportedly going to change significantly. We keep our vehicles 5 years or so (this will replace a 2003 Camry XLE that was loaded even nav back then). A little fear that this model will look real old in 2013 when we go to sell it. I am assuming the $2000 dealer incentive is because of the model change and the model change will be significantly more expensive (AWD, etc,). If it is a lot more money the new model will probably be out of our price range anyway. Is this a correct assumption or will their be dealer incentives this summer on the newer style? One of my thoughts is not to haggle on financing and just pay off the note within the first month or two. That way the dealer can make some margin on selling my note. Does anyone know if Acura financing has any pre-payment penalties? Are there any additional costs to create the finance paperwork. I realize a dealer has to make some money somewhere and I want to negotiate the cleanest deal I can - Then sell my Camry afterwards in the 30 days following (we get temp plates here in NH). Have sold many cars on Ebay and CL, etc so no fear there. My thought process is to attempt a deal for a TL with Nav at $2500 - $3000 under invoice (is this possible) and then to list the add-ons I want at the prices I have found online - from links provided here. I figure the lowest online price must still provide a profit for the seller and then consider them all installed for free (not sure if that is realistic). The accessories we want are: Wing Spoiler, Moonroof Visor, body side and door trim moldings, splash guards, trunk trays and wheel locks and an actual platinum warranty from Acura for 7 years, 100,000 miles (find this useful when reselling the car at the 5 year mark (camry has the typical 60K on it for example). Realistically - what charges after the below invoice deal can the dealer legitamately add to the price - destination? there is no tax in NH and the title is probably pretty inexpensive. Any thoughts on my approach? Will probably email it to the dealers in New England and see who bites...
MDX lease --New England
by 55webster on Thu Feb 21 17:52:51 PST 2008
Hi: My '05 MDX is going off lease and it's time to renew. I've seen some comments about Acura of Boston and believe they're the most aggresive in terms of deals, but I'd appreciate any comments from other dealers in Mass or Southern NH. Looking for one with the Sport or Tech package. Thanks. Webster
MDX Tech & Ent in New England?

Has anyone recently purchased an '08 MDX Tech/Ent in MA or NH? I was quoted 44,846 out the door, which included sport running boards, roof rails, cross bars, side body molding, wheel locks. Thanks.
Re: 08 tl with navi- lease 36 month 12K miles/year- Good deal? [nring]

That's a pretty good price I think. I am looking for a similar deal with 18K miles. I think that will add another $30 a month. Lucky for me no tax in NH.
08 Sport/Ent in Boston area

Just bought last weekend and thought I'd share my experience in case it may help someone. I'm actually from NH but with only 2 dealers in the state I ended up searching the MA dealers as well. Salesperson at Claire in N. Hampton was great but sales manager was a jerk. They also could not compete with the prices of the Nashua (sunnyside) or MA dealers. Of the MA dealers Bernardi in Brighton was by far the most professional and straightforward. Peabody was great to deal with but not so great on the price. Herb Connelly in Framingham seemed very deceptive to me and while their pricing was in the ballpark I just got a bad feeling from the way they did business. I ended up buying in Nashua because they offered a good deal (although I bet I could have got Bernardi to beat it by a little) and I prefer to keep my money in state. : 08 MDX sport/ent in sterling/taupe: roof rack cross bars all season mats sport running boards cargo tray cargo net side moldings third wireless headset Total price $46.6 including a $200 doc fee (that I had them take off the price of the car)
Re: Salesman Won't Share Price Over Email? [lofton]

I was in market for a Certified MDX and Peabody had one I was interested in but highly overpriced. I live about 2 hours away from Boston, so emailed/called and they wouldn't discuss the price over the phone. Also, the salesman was pretty pissed when I asked him why he had priced the car higher than the rest of the market. In the end, I was able to get a much better car (in terms of miles and trim) from Herb Connolly in Framingham. Peabody still has the car in the lot (it's been over a month) and now has started lowering the price but is still way high. I would suggest trying Herb Connolly and SunnySide in Nashua,NH.
