bought 2007 TL for $31,418 in Chicago: by kon2 on Mon Apr 02 16:45:49 PDT 2007; I finally bought a new TL on March 31 after almost a week of email/phone negotiations. I live in MN and told the dealers that I would buy at invoice or close to it. Some of them would not even talk to me like they were offended or something. The lowest I could get was from Buerkle Acura, they said they would sell it to me for $200 over invoice. After some talking to them turned out that they were not talking about $31,518 invoice that is widely known, but some other "invoice" of about $31,800. After I pressured them on the reason of this invoice discrepancy they finally admitted that their "invoice" included some internal fees. They would not come down on price and wouldn't include the protection pkg in this price even after I told them I'd have to go to Chicago to get a better price. None of the dealers in MN expressed any interest in competing w/ Chicago. I had a few quotes at or slightly below invoice from a number of Chicago dealers. One of them - McGrath in Morton Grove offered to beat any written offer by 5% of a discount (from MSRP). After emailing and talking to them on the phone for a day I got them down to $31,290 including protection pkg. I went to Chicago on the 31st, spend about an hour and a half going over some stuff at that dealership after which sales mgr showed up and started feeding me some BS about the price not including protection pkg. They were playing "broken phone" game w/ me which I did not appreciate in the least. These people gave me an impression of the sleaziest used-car salesmen you could ever come across. I just stood up and walked. Called "Ed Napoleon Acura & Kia of Elmhurst" that I also talked on the phone the day before. Asked them if they could go below invoice. Right away they said they'd go $100 below invoice w/ protection pkg included if I buy on that day (last of the month). Took me more time to get there (got lost on the way) than to do all the paperwork. Less than an hour to buy a car, do financing, get instructions on car operation - everything. What night and day difference between the dealers! I just can't say enough good things about that last dealership. Highly recommended.
