My actual emails... (#1) Hello Doug, I received your online inquiry about a 2011 Acura RDX and would love to help. Please let me know how I can offer assistance or if there is a more convenient way to reach you. (my reply) Subject: RE: Please let me know how I can offer assistance... Looking for an internet price quote for your RDX FWD Base, Stock # - 15491A Thanks, Doug Doug, Thank you for the follow up. Here is the quote you requested: Stock # 15491A 2011 Acura RDX 2wd White / Ebony $33,480.00 MSRP $31,000.00 Internet Sale Price This price does not include tax, license or any accessories you may choose. In addition to the pricing we have .9% financing available up to 60 months. This is on approved credit with AFS. This price is good through March 31st 2011. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Marc, Thank you very much for the quote. I know that $31,000 is a very good price, but unfortunately more than we are willing to spend. I was hoping for a really great deal around $29,900. If you could meet that price we would buy before the end of the month. Thanks, Doug Doug, Thank you for the offer. I went to the new car sales manager and presented him your offer. He said that at $30,400 we would have a deal on that RDX. In addition to the price I have a parts and service coupon book worth over $1,000 in parts and service discounts that you can use while you own the RDX. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Marc, Thank you for going the extra distance to get us this great price. Am I correct to assume it includes the $860 destination fees. If so, we will accept this offer if you will include the roof rack, cross bars and installation. Thanks, Doug Doug, The cost of the Roof Rack installed is $667.00. Which would make your offer $29,800 plus the rack. Which I cant do. I spoke to the sales manager about this, he said that if you purchased the RDX tonight that we would split the difference with you. The price of the RDX with the Roof Rack installed will be $30,733.00 plus tax and license. Marc Marc, Please help me finish this deal off easy. After sleeping on it I'd like to increase my offer to $30,500 including the rack & inst. I'm headed to the bike trail for a while and I will check with you when I get back. Thanks, Doug Doug, We will do that. When would you like to take delivery of the RDX? Marc Just that easy. Email all the nearby dealers via Edmunds or Truecar.com and ask for an internet price quote. As you can see we paid $30.5 for an '11 fwd base with the factory roof rack inst incl. Also consider going to other dealers in maybe a 100 mi radius if no one in your town will give you $30,000. Monday I helped my daughter buy a new '11 CR-V SE FWD. Local dealers stuck to their guns at $22550 for 3 weeks and would not budge. We looked at Truecar and found a dealer 104 mi away who listed his price as $21,300, which is the price we set out to get it for from day one. I again spoke to both local dealers and neither would match that $21.3 price. Further, one of them bad mouthed the deal saying it was bogus, bait and switch, etc. The out of town dealer, Manly could not have treated us better, even put the car on the rack for me to view the undersidewhile my daughter did the paper work. Good luck, stick to $30,000 and don't give up.
Not a bad deal considering the shortage of this model and their swallowing your payments too. If you like the car, then I think its good. But I would say push one step harder and either ask them to give you 12k mi/yr, or swallow the first month payment.
I have not bought a car in 16 years and I am not an assertive type so hate going to dealership and trying to bargain a price. I understand the sales guy need to make a living too but at the same time don't want to get robbed. I got the following price though email from a local dealer. Let me know if this is a good one or bad. Plan on leasing it this weekend. 2011 Acura MDX Technology and Entertainment Packages (MSRP 49015 / Invoice 45009) 2K down covers first month plus all the fees. $619 a month for 35 months, the price include 6% MI sales Tax Option to buy the car at end of the lease for 27948.40 Thanks a million. Jay
Thanks for your input. I live in Cincinnati OH and FWD is what I wanted. I looked around in KY, IN, OH and MI and this by far was the best price I got. I looked in this forum and didn't see anyone that have gotten a new 2010 for "few dollars more" than $33000. sorry for your bad experience
OK, my bad, you're right about the depreciation fee formula. Here is what is on Acura's web site about the TSX base model lease special that has been running: FEATURED SPECIAL LEASE: Closed-end lease for 2009 TSX Automatic Transmission (Model CU2669JW) for $299.00 per month for 36 months with a $1,605.00 capitalized cost reduction available to customers who qualify for the AHFC Super Preferred credit tier. Other rates/tiers are available under this offer. $2,499.00 total due at lease signing (includes first month's payment with no security deposit, AHFC upfront acquisition fee and capitalized cost reduction; total net capitalized cost and base monthly payment does not include tax, license, title, registration, documentation fees, options, insurance and the like). Not all buyers may qualify. Subject to limited availability. 3/3/2009 through 5/4/2009, to approved lessees by American Honda Finance Corp. Closed end lease for 2009 TSX Automatic Transmission vehicles (Model CU2669JW), for well qualified lessees. Not all lessees will qualify. Higher lease rates apply for lessees with lower credit ratings. MSRP $29,920.00 (includes destination) less the capitalized cost reduction (which may be paid by the suggested dealer contribution) resulting in actual net capitalized cost $26,132.03. Dealer contribution may vary and could affect actual lease payment. Taxes, license, title fees, options and insurance extra. Total monthly payments $10,764.00. Option to purchase at lease end $18,849.60. Lessee responsible for maintenance, excessive wear/tear and 15 cents/mi. over 10,000 miles/year for vehicles with MSRP less than $30,000, but for vehicles with MSRP of $30,000 or more, mileage cost is 20 cents/mi. over 10,000 miles/year. See dealer for complete details. People are negotiating better deals than the above, of course, but this can be used as an example. So, if you took this deal and gave the dealer $2,499 up-front, they would give you a net cap cost of $26,132 on a base TSX for 36 month, 10K per year lease. If you punch that along with the residual of $18,849 and .00215 money factor into the leaseguide calculator, you get the $299 per month payment. The deals people are getting are just a variation on this theme. I do think there is an opportunity for people to get ripped off with fees and the ambiguity of cap cost but that's true of any lease, don't you think? I also agree that it's silly to put a lot of money down on a lease, but some people like to buy down their payment. When I shopped a base TSX three years ago, they wanted in the low $400s a month. Now you see people here getting them for $350 or so including tax and with sometimes less than $1,000 up-front. I think that's a good deal on this car. I'm sure people are also getting good leases on the IS between the discounts and the low money factors, however.
