Got an email back from my closest dealer. 2008 with tech new $42277 with destination. I'm inclined to take it. I hope they don't pull tricks. I'm just sick and tired of all this shopping. Lincoln MKZ, my head bumps with the seat all the way down. Wife thinks it's for old people. BMW 328xi, cramped BMW 535xi used, 5k miles and the dealer still wanted 48k Mercedes C cramped, plasticy and E 4matic, high Lexus es350, no awd, low door for back seat Cadillac CTS, 47k the way I want it equipped, and I don't trust GM quality Infiniti G35x tight seats, high beltline, feels like you are sitting low, but helluva car. Acura, better car than I thought I could afford. Priced like the G35x, but more in the M class size wise. It doesn't have quite the prestige of the BMW, but I'm of mixed mind about that. I'm not a 'Look at me! I got money!' kinda person, since so many of those types are debt junkies. They have three in blue so I think they've got to move them. I'll let you know how it works out. I'm going tonight. Also, an old friend is the parts manager there. I didn't want to use him to get a better price, he has had a rough career and I'll mention him only after the sale, if I can give him a boost. Nicest guy. Worst luck, but it seems to be changing. Thanks for all the help. Scott
Re: Type S Wheels [23109vc]

Don't take it personally, really we probably just have different criterion. And to answer; I have driven some very fine RWD's on an autocross course, and I considered them in my hunt. The TL-S is sporty, but it is not a sports car, and neither is any sedan other than say the RX-8(cause it's not really a sedan, or barely qualifies). When you say the stick sucks, I assume you are referring to the torque steer, as the transmission is one of the best in the segment. I never said the TL-S doesn't torque steer. I can drive it right and I do encounter torque steer daily, it is still better than embarrassment of being seen with an auto trans. Driving to and from work is what 99% of us do with our cars, and 95% of those never even push it(so they can buy Camrys) ;) You are COMPLETELY RIGHT with the last sentence, if you want to get a daily driver that you can autocross or take to the track, the TL-S ain't it. That said, I have thought about taking mine to nearby track just for fun and to see what it will legally do. I know it won't match the CTS-V and M3(E46) that I have driven on the track, but I knew that when I bought it. Since I never really do make it to the track the way my life is right now, it made sense to compromise. I really did seriously consider a 07 Legacy B spec and a CTS-V, both of which have tons of tuner mods avail and would be tire/gas eating street monsters. I figured that since I want to build a new house this year, that it would be hard to justify the extra insurance, fuel and not to mention tires to the little lady, so I chose the compromise. You can still have fun with FWD tho, I have a circular park/traffic circle/skidpad in fromt of my office. Today I was having fun flooring it until I understeered, then lifting the throttle so it oversteered. Ok, I know it's not as fun as drifting. Oh well, maybe when I build the house I will get a "playtoy" to take to the track. That's one reason to build a house now, I have no place to park a toy or it's parts anyway. I hope that clears the air. :shades:
Re: what else to buy in this $$ range??? [23109vc]

Of course there are tons of sedans at or below the price range of the TL-S. It really depends what you're looking for. But: Caddy CTS: I think they may already be discounting them...! But, good reviews, imho much improved exterior/interior appearance. But, first year. Also rwd which may or may not matter to you. And a bit more blingy (can't believe an old man such as myself is using the word "bling") than some. Lexus ES350: Powerful. luxurious. But soft and FWD which may or may not matter to you... Lexus IS250: If you go rwd/MT, not horribly underpowered but probably pales in comparison to 328i. Honda Accord V6: Well, it's an Accord. Toyota Camry V6/Hybrid: Well, it's a Camry. I personally think they did a nice job with the evolution of the G35. I agree it's still not as handsome as the TL, but in my mind it went from a 7 to an 8. Especially like the new G35 grille. Also, new TL for '09. Probably debuting in later '08. Would that bother you if you bought an '08 and the '09 was a stunner (hopefully, it will be...)?

Your math is about dead on. I wanted the payment around $325-$350, so I put the extra cash down. I will never be upside down in a vehicle and I want to pay it off before the warranty runs out. I would've paid cash for the total price of the car, but they had 4.9%, so I went for it. Whomever is looking at the G35, BMW 3-series and the new CTS, stop by the Acura dealer and drive the TL-S, you will love it I promise. :) :) :)

I think you are 100% correct on your assessment of the TL Type S from your recent test drive. The car is a little more front biased than I would like, but for a car that can hold 5 REAL adults, has a decent trunk for golf bags, is pretty fun to drive (paddle shifters are cool) AND a very attractive lease.........this car is hard to beat. Seriously, look over at the Honda forums here at Edmunds..........peopled are getting Honda Accord EX-L V6 w/Navi quotes that are within a few bucks of the Acura TL Type S!!!! Honda is NOT supporting the Accord with ANY specials for the lease of an Accord right now..........the car is too new and too hot right now. I would take the Acura TL Type S any day of the week over the BLAND looking Accord.........and the payment on the Type S is too sweet not to. Just for some more FYI..........you CAN get the dealer down UNDER invoice on the TL's right now (Type S included).............Acura is really NOT doing well right now due to the: Cadillac CTS, BMW 3 series, and Mercedes C class. I would honestly shoot for invoice - $500 ($35,300 Cap Cost) and be prepared to walk out if they mumble and grumble.............you'll get it.
