Re: To Tech or Not To Tech [mlb11]

The residuals are estimates based on recent history (I'm guessing more than just the prior year) and are there to protect Acura and the dealer from any substantial loss on the lease as well as to entice the lessee to consider purchase or lease extension at the end to the term. I'm talking about Blue Book in 3 or 4 years and one's ability in any given market to attract buyers or get a good trade-in offer. Nav and backup cameras seem to have become the items de jour during the past 3 years or so (I'm also old enough to remember when A/C was an extra cost option and folks who saved on the buy tried to fool their neighbors on a hot summer day) and are showing up on just about every vehicle listed over $30K now a days (many mid-$20K MSRP vehicles are getting pushed up to that $30K price point w/ tech packages). Whether they will be as "essential" to the late model used car buyer as A/C and AT in 3 or 4 years is anybody's guess, but following auto reviews and promotions indicates to me that the manufacturers think they are becoming high demand options. Just MHO. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't buy a +$30K entry level luxury car w/o tech unless I was sure I was keeping it 7 to 10 years. BTW, I live in metro-Denver, and while most families own one 4WD truck or AWD SUV here, cars with AWD don't seem to be that big a seller (exception being the Infinity I-35/37 AWD, which seem plentiful here). But, that's just based on observation, I haven't dug into regional sales data for all brands.
Current Offers from Acura

Looks like in metro-Denver the only posted offers are just the same financing offers (3.9% for 25 to 60 months) they've had for months now. Nothing exciting as many HELOCs can currently borrow at that rate or lower and itemize the interest paid. Of course, nothing is posted regarding the dealer incentive. Anyone know what the current dealer incentive is or do I have to pay CR for a report to find out?
SH-AWD Inventory On-Hand
by cebteb on Fri Jul 10 16:11:47 PDT 2009
No shortage of SH-AWDs in the metro-Denver area. at least a third of the large current inventory at all three dealers are SH-AWD. There do seem to be few FWD-No Tech units available. I guess with those having the lowest price, they go first in a bad economy.
Metro Denver TL Inventories
by cebteb on Fri Jul 03 13:40:33 PDT 2009
I did an on-line check of the 2009 TL inventories at the 3 area Acura dealers and compared it to what I found in April on-line. The Boulder dealer has upped inventory from around 37 to 56. The second dealer is at about the same with an inventory of 35. The third dealer has dropped inventory from around 35 to 27. Now I'm trying to figure out what that all means as far as demand and potential deals. I'm guessing the Boulder dealer has picked up the TL inventory from the small dealers in the mountain states area in hopes of selling more this summer in a more affluent market. I think the third dealer is either doing a good job on sales or is playing it safe in a down economic market. I did note that the SHAWD models did make up 25 to 40% of inventory at all 3 dealers. I also noted a preponderance of Brown colored TLs in those inventories. I though Blue was the non-seller. Hmmmm! Seems like I see a lot of Acura and TL advertising here, but nothing about deals, discounts, rebates, year-end specials. Maybe the latest unemployment figures will get these dealers and Acura to shake loose a bit rather than eat their '09 inventory.
