I don't think that's a good deal, you essentially got a used car for <10% discount. It loses quite a bit more than $3k once you drive it off the lot, more like 20%. The only benefit is if you get a certified used deal which extends the warranty another year and for more miles, which is worth something.
2008 MDX Tech in SF Bay Area
by enforcer on Fri Jan 16 23:24:00 PST 2009
We finally bit the bullet and bought an Acura MDX with Tech in mid-December. Paid $36.6 + $1k for options, about $200 above invoice after subtracting $4k incentive. Also got 2.9%/60mos zero down financing. Probably should have tried to shave another $1k based on prices posted here and on real car tips but we were leaving on vacation soon and there were only 3 of the 2008s with Tech remaining on the lot. It was a tough choice between the new 2008s and a used 2006, but decided to go new as we plan to keep it until it dies and the incentives were too good to pass up (credit union was offering 5% financing). Happy to recommend my salesperson at East Bay Acura (Pleasanton) and email me if you want to know which Bay Area dealers to AVOID! The sales manager at Pleasanton is great, as are the service staff. P.S. Some tips: (1) If you get Acura financing, dealer gets $300 fee on the loan origination, so consider that when calculating his profit (2) Check the invoice closely, do not get conned into paying for MACO or other dealer advertising fees. Also skip the upfront extended warranty, they will be happy to sell it to you when your 4yrs is almost up and by that time you'll know if your car is a dog.
Re: In Market For New SUV [jstbghtmdx]

Thanks jstbghtmdx for this summary. Thanks everyone here for your message. I learnt the 0.9% financing on 2008 MDX (ends 12/1) and the price on the market from this thread. :) Jumped in for a Tech model for below $36,000 last Saturday. I started with the initial price from $35,500 at home (talking over the phone) as jstbghtmdx posted here. Dealer got back with a price between $35,500 and $36,000. Then I took it. I'm in the San Francisco bay area. There are not too many 2008 model left in south bay. But there are still some in the surrounding area as not far as to Sacramento area. -- I didn't go that far but e-mailed them. I do not post the specific dealer here. -- I think you may get a good deal from any dealer if they still have one in the lot. One more point: do not pay the destination charge. It's included already. Good luck and keep posting!
2008 Base TL without Navi quote: Is this a good deal?
by newbmr on Fri Jul 04 11:31:55 PDT 2008
Hi, I am trying to buy a new 2008 TL without Navi this weekend. I have received several quotes for Base TL without Navi for $28,530 + Tax and DMV fees. [ I am in the San Francisco Bay Area.] I am interested in getting 0.9% Acura financing. The quote with the financing is $30,531 (+ Tax and DMV fees). I need your assistance, Is this a good deal? Could I negotiate the price lower than $30k for the car with financing?? Also, would opting for Base TL with Navi make it better in terms of benefiting from low price promotion and still get financing? Please help. Kyfdx and others: You helped me when I bought my X3 some years ago, and I need your valuable guidance again. Looking forward to seeing your responses. Many thanks and a Happy Fourth!
