Re: Trying to make an offer for a 2008 MDX [whsu]

I also brought my MDX from Raquel at Oakland Acura in Northern CA last weekend. My cash price was $2,700 below invoice and Honda Special Financing price was $1,200 below invoice. I took the Special Financing at 0.9% for 36 months and keep my money in my Money Market earning 3%. The saving in interest over 36 months is approximately $3,000.

Fly one-way to Oakland, CA and work with Marin Acura. Pricing is competitive and you'll enjoy a mini-vacation as a bonus. We were out the door in less than 2 hours and experienced a pleasant drive back to the Northwest.

Was quoted invoice for 07 TL base w/o Navi @ Oakland Acura about 3 days ago. I didn't buy, however; but I got the 06 model for 28,600 (included destination, wheel locks and all-season floor mats). I got it at Sierra Acura in Alhambra, Ca. -Albert

I am interested in getting a TSX ( 6 speed manual) without navigation system. I am in the eastcoast and will move to the bay area in a month or two. I can either get a car now and ship it to California (the company pays for the moving cost) or wait till I get there (I have an option to go to the west coast in the middle of Nov.. If I get the car, I can garage it at my friend's home.). Another difference is the sale tax, 5% vs. 8.75% at CA. I did some background research. There are still lots of 06' TSX on the lot in the East coast and the quote is $26.2K + ttl. However, I got mixed information from the westcoast dealers. Oakland dealer gave me the same quote and concord dealer told me most of TSX were gone and they even sold it for sticker price. I would like to get some help on this and any suggestions are highly appreciated.
Avoid Oakland Acura, Oakland, CA

I wish I had posted earlier to save others the trouble of going to Oakland Acura. Though I did eventually buy my TL w/navi here as they matched an offer that was $400 below invoice :) , the sales people and the finance team make this a terrificly horrible experience :( . There were times when I wondered if they even knew what features the car had as standard :confuse: . The sales person I worked with tried extremely hard to sell me on features he thought I wanted to hear versus listening and describing features I wanted to know more about. And true while most info is available on the website, it is an interesting process because you get a good sense of how much they care about simply selling. Guy walks in sell him on the stereo and how the designer was sometype of acoustics guru. Woman walks in sell her on safety. Had the dealership not been next door to the place where I was working and the salesperson good enough to pick me up and drop me off at BART, I most likely would not have purchased from here. Other item of note, inspect the carpet closely. Despite multiple trips in the back seat, I never noticed the stain in the carpet, because it is small and dark it is not blatantly obvious. But given the tax differential between Santa Clara and Alameda Counties and the fact that I still had the original offer for $400 below invoice, it had value. Bad on me :(
