Re: MDX Sport/Tech [4mdx4]

I received enough emails that I figured I might as well just share it here. I'm in the Bay Area and I emailed everyone and called a ton of dealerships. The best thing I found was by going to the acura site and going through the "build an MDX" and then "Request Quote" and then sending my info to each dealer. This at least put me in touch with the internet sales managers who have by far the best deals. Anyway, after a bunch of research I found that Oakland Acura, Sunnyvale Acura, and Stevens Creek Acura had the best prices. I also went to test drive at Sunnyvale and Stevens Creek and I think the Stevens Creek folks are more knowledgeable about the car and features compared to the Sunnyvale ones, though I'm sure it depends on what sales person you get. After going back and forth with Sunnyvale and Stevens Creek I was able to get $40,185 (includes destination fee, but not TTL which was close to 10.5% because of CA) from Stevens Creek which includes a 4 year service plan for A1 and B1 services (oil changes, tire rotations etc...) which is about $500 more expensive than if you read the posts from September, and about $800 more expensive than if you read the posts on this forum from July. So I can't explain why the prices have been steadily increasing since April, but they seem to have been. I think I could've squeezed a couple hundred more out of them, or at least gotten some free all weather mats thrown in, but a new Black/Black Tech had just come in to both so I was able to get one with only 4 miles. Anyway, I hope that helps. Also I was originally planning on getting the roof rails and cross bars installed at the dealer, then realized that Bernardi Acura parts sells the OEM Acura parts online for way cheaper: http://acura.bernardiparts.com/ (thanks to whoever posted it a couple posts ago) And it comes with all the instructions, the rails being the most complicated but not too bad really. If you are planning on getting any accessories I'd definitely get them online instead. By the way you might notice that I was posting a lot in the Toyota Highlander forums before this since I was considering that, but a Loaded Sport 4x4 was about 35,000 at my best price, and the $5k difference between that and the MDX is easily made up, assuming you can get a price close to mine.

I absolutely agree with you on Pleasanton Acura! I went to 4 other Acura dealerships prior to them and only 1 stood out for having good service (Oakland) but they didn't have any 08s left. Two of them were very...ummm..."swarmy" is probably the polite way of voicing my concerns about their honesty and sales tactics. I can vouch for Pleasanton's professionalism and integrity, search my other posts ("deal gouged roof") for my non-sales interaction with them. Just curious about the extended warranty, is it more expensive to get it 4 years down the line as opposed to now? When I had my S40 and wanted to add another year to it just 2.5 years into the car, Volvo quoted me $1400 for that extra year which I'm sure wasn't as much initially. If you are interested in an extended warranty, Tim over at HondaAcuraWorld sells genuine Honda/Acura Warranties for much less than dealer and at least from its webpage, you can purchase it before you hit 6k on the odometer. http://www.hondacuraworld.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=AC- -MDX-EW-00&Category_Code=WARR Bernardi Warranty has it for bit cheaper than HondAcuraWorld but their website won't let those of us in CA purchase them for whatever reasons, but I read in other forums you can just call in and they'll do it over the phone. I was looking at 7 years 100k which comes to $1585 (Hondacuraworld), not bad, about a grand less than the dealership. I do plan on keep the car for a long time but after reading all the write-ups on extended warranties for high reliability brands such as Acura, I'm still not sure whether I should do this or get some new granite for my kitchen.....
Need help on TL lease
by ultrarunner on Fri Jan 02 21:02:42 PST 2009
I am new at this, so please go easy on me. I have negotiated the price on a 2009 TL to $500 under invoice. I now want them to use that price in calculating a lease, using the promo they are offering in my area. Their advertised terms are $399/mo, 36 mos, $1005 cap cost reduction, $1999 total due at signing (includes 1st mo payment with no sec dep, AHFC upfront acq fee and cap cost reduction) total net cap cost and base payment do not include tax, license title, reg, doc fees, opts, ins, etc. Lease is based upon MSRP of $35,715 less the cap cost reduction (which may be paid by the suggested dealer contribution) resulting in actual net cap cost of $33.552.76. Total monthly payments $14,364, Option to purchase at lease end $23,214.75. 1. Does the terms of their lease mean I am paying a upfront acq fee of $1999-399-1005=$595? 2. Will the dealer accept my negotiated price with all other aspects of the lease? In other words, I figure their deal is a .001634 money factor, and I am ok with the $1999, and the residual seems ok too. So re-running with the lower sale price of around $32,296, I get a lease payment of $301.40. All without tax, license title, reg, doc fees, opts, ins, etc. Will the dealer go for that? 3. If they will, is that a good deal? I am ready to make the deal tomorrow, if you wise folks tell me the skinny. Thanks to all for your help.
2009 MDX Technology Package

We worked with Los Gatos Acura and had a wonderful experience. They played no games and matched the best price we got...which actually was from Serramonte Acura in SF. The cost was $38,283 + TTL in CA. Oakland, Pleasanton, Sunnyvale, Autowest Stevens Creek, Hopkins - all said they couldn't come close to the price. "We'd be taking a loss on the car." That is classic. Just be honest and say you can't sell for that low. Plain and simple. We are all educated buyers with some intelligence behind our actions...sales people sometimes can be such weirdo's. However, I digress...our salesman was super great and it was the most pleasant experience I've ever had buying a car...as far as buying a car goes. I recommend this place for everyone. You can see my previous post from my other purchases from other years. Would never recommend anything unless I was 100% sure of the results. Best of luck my friends...a fire sale is going on right now.

I also brought my MDX from Raquel at Oakland Acura in Northern CA last weekend. My cash price was $2,700 below invoice and Honda Special Financing price was $1,200 below invoice. I took the Special Financing at 0.9% for 36 months and keep my money in my Money Market earning 3%. The saving in interest over 36 months is approximately $3,000.
